I noticed that in this video (keep in mind I am not an expert or anything), the performers dance more freely and flow more; now days you guys are more formal, but I personally like both styles equally. You guys deserve more then a pat on the back.

I don't care how many times I see this, it always brings joyful tears. It's also very interesting to see how over time while the dance steps are the same, each troupe, or class interprets them just a little bit differently. It's also been very interesting to see some of the costume changes over the years. Again the basic costume doesn't change, but rather it's maybe the trim, or something subtle. And over the years there have been changes in the performances. Usually parts have been added. It's only noticable if you watch several different videos. And finally, it's obvious that some of the dancers have more fun with their parts than others, it comes through in their performances. I wish I spoke Russian, and knew more about the culture, and the stories being told.

I had never heard of the Moiseyev Ensemble until I saw tapes of the Riverdance performances in Dublin (1995) and in New York City (1996). In the "Russian Dervish" segment of Riverdance, the six Moiseyev dancers dazzled the audiences with their high energy footwork and fluid acrobatics, drawing wild applause. I used to watch the Riverdance tapes over and over, just to see those Russian dancers. There were three fantastic lady dancers in that piece: one wearing a blue skirt, one in a green skirt, and one in red. Apart from my own dancing daughter, who performs and teaches classical ballet, the Russian lady in the blue skirt is my all time favorite dancer on this planet! So I was delighted to see, at 1:29:55 in this 1998 video from Baku, that "blue skirt" lady performing the Finnish Polka,, which also happens to be one of my favorite dances out of the large Moiseyev repertoire--thus, for me, a double treat. I do not know the dancer's name. My best guess is that she is Marina Taranda. In any case, many thanks for posting this video. And if she's still around, send this lady some flowers for me!

@@alexandersmirnov5281 Unfortunately for me, "Angelina Cherepanova" does not match any of the names on the official Riverdance all-time cast list, which includes all the Russian dancers who performed with them over the years since 1995.. So I must have the wrong lady (or else the credits are wrong, or maybe the dancer in question has a near lookalike sister!). In the credits of the Riverdance video tapes, there are six names listed for the Russian dancers, but the names are not matched to the faces of particular dancers. Therefore, the mystery remains about the correct identity of the "blue skirt" dancer and her companions from the original 1995/1996 performances of Riverdance. But the good news for me is that I get to add Angelina Cherepanova to my list of favorite Moiseyev dancers. It is really difficult work to pick any favorites, because, year in and year out, the Ensemble's rigorous training regimen produces a bountiful new crop of wonderfully talented, disciplined, and accomplished performers. They are truly a gift to our often troubled world, and I am blessed to be alive to see their art blossom on the stage, if only through video recordings. So, more flowers needed! Александр Кадетов Так и мне не 20 лет, к сожалению. Но навскидку, Панков и Е.Чернышков танцуют до сих пор, а Васина, Костылева и остальных я знаю по прошлым годам их замечательной работы в ансамбле...

Yanka Kinomanka да, конечно, и Кирилл Кочубей тоже танцует. Поэтому написала, что навскидку, кого вспомнила пока писала. Озерянский ушел на заслуженный отдых, теперь тренирует фитнес спортсменов, а Рубцов выступает в театре Оперетты, если ничего не путаю.

Мне кажется, что сейчас Моисеевцы стали танцевать лучше. Некоторые танцы стали быстрее, а сами участники стали делать меньше ошибок.
