What do y'all mean "Not worth $50"? I started this while I was wide awake, and only 38 minutes in I'm literally dozing off. It's seven hours before my bed time, and I've only been up for seven hours as a write. Normally I need to be exhausted and have white noise in the background before I can even lay down, then I lay awake for about 45 minutes. Thanks to "Lord of the Rings: Gollum" I can finally feel what it means to take a "nap", something that I can only manage when I'm deathly ill. This game is truly a masterpiece. 10/10, would recommend you try this before you invest in copious quantities of Xanax and black tar heroin to get a full night's rest.

I just can't fathom the thinking behind making this. I can't even imagine diehard LOTR fans wanting a game like this. Already to general audiences, this game has Z E R O appeal or interest. And then atop of that, I feel like EVERYTHING you could have chosen to make a game of in LOTR, you choose.... This. Why. I get the not using original actors if you can't. I can even somewhat forgive the awful designs. But what is wild to me, is the...actual words?(idk how to explain it) are entirely a different character. The candor, the different personalities, the language he uses. Is completely a 180. I've read everything Tolkien put out, watched damn near every piece of content from thesis of themes of the works, to documentary's on his life. Idk maybe just I think too much about a fandom that really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but the man was the father of modern fantasy. There's a certain amount of respect you have to have when dealing with the characters for the fans to accept. You can make new stories in the world and it will be accepted we seen it Alot with the shadows of Mordor with the majority of that being supplemental content. And personally i enjoy that story, not so much the game. But I'm 5 minutes in, and immediately disappointed with the handling of this. Idk, I know it's not that deep, but fuck all if I just hate it.

Playing as smeagul and watching him go from the hobbit who just killed his sibling(or cousin I don't remember which,) to the insane half naked gollum under a mountain and having to make moral choices throught the game only for any moral choice you make to not matter in the end due to the ring's influence could be cool

I don't know why this one of my fave game streams now. I'm not a fan of LoTR by any means, but I've never seen a concept that fell so horribly short despite so much world building potential, even down to the voice acting and music. I think if it just had better puzzles and combat it might have been a interesting game, maybe a bit weird with the choice of character but I can see the idea of a stealth, puzzle game sort of thing. But instead you're just watching a small and decrepit man running around and following people for hours on end. The inner monologue and having to argue against yourself is interesting but it's so poorly implemented, it just comes off as cringe. In addition to the lazy af UI. Utterly wild how this got greenlit. It's weird. I'm very curious about the events that lead to the game's inevitable release. And then the game has the audacity to charge more than full price for it, even barring the "lore accurate" voice acting behind a paywall (if I remembered correctly).

maybe it's lore related but the orcs dont really look like orcs. it's similar to the potato brutes from halo. everything just doesnt look textured enough and you could mistake this for an early xbox 360 game. just terrible.
