I see a lot of comments saying that this one of all of the episodes is fake, but while the series of events might not have been exact, it's not outrageous to think that a watchman in the woods came across some cultist activities. The dev probably exaggerated some plot points and added some events, like the cultist breaking into the tower in order to add more thrill to the game, but it's not an unbelievable story.

As someone who lives in Washington state, everyone dismissing his claims as easily as they'd dismiss an alien abduction is absolutely in character for the people here. Once I got laughed at by my family for saying I didn't want to walk 30 minutes to the store at night. Whenever I mentioned that that was a great way to get killed or mugged, they would dismiss it with "name one case of that near here." People living in Washington state are genuinely under the delusion that every single other Washingtonian is a blessed angel who isn't even capable of malicious thought. It got to the point that one of my friends' family "talked" (harassed) him out of reporting someone else to the police for theft because they just didn't believe him. Seeing as my high school had a shooting, an armed robbery, two bomb threats and two physical fights resulting in serious wounds in my Junior and Senior years alone, I feel like I'm justified in being anxious around people.
