I despise scumbag characters that steal other ppl's true loves and do not treat them well. This filthy ruler was one in this series. He wanted the FL to be his queen because she was brilliant AND beautiful. He didn't care that he was depriving her of true love. She accepted him faithfully and he failed her repeatedly. The only good thing was he died painfully and she became Queen, and married her true love, who had waited for her.
