No thanks..I seen first hand how dirty they are..I've shot hundreds of them over the years and trapped them..I've watched them eat each other...If you trap them an urban area they'll have been in the sewer..Fleas on them help spread the diseases..if you're hundreds of miles away from civilisation they might be ok..But as I said they should only be eaten in extreme survival situations..each to their own..If you want to eat them go ahead I won't stop you..lol

Quite interesting video for those who are waiting the situation to come when such the way for survival will be the only chance. There will not be any PC nor mobile phones available for sure ... the question is what way the others will choose to get the food in the same time .... anyway thanks for reminding us on how natives used to live in the past.

Rat is good meat. In the old wooden ship, wind powered navies, ships were plagued with rats and sailors caught them to supplement the salted meat which was a mainstay of their diet. When I went on liberty in Hong Kong in the Vietnam war era, I saw grilled rats sold by street vendors and they were very good. Of course these were cage raised rats, bred and grown for the table. Much bigger and fatter than wild rats.

Good video, so your in a survival situation, using natural materials. What bait are you going to use? Hungry, it would be hard to leave food behind in hopes of catching something. I can understand using something from a previous kill, but what did you use to get that kill?

+Big Boss "I eat meat, but only if it's been wrapped in plastic" (e.g. supermarket meat) actual quote from a relative. As long as they don't witness the death and processing, they somehow think they're less "barbaric" than those of us who can do it all. They are unabashedly pawning off the dirty work on someone else, someone who is a small piece in a corporation that cares nothing for the quality of life or the speed of death of their meat animals. But somehow that makes them a better person...

@littleike22287 жыл бұрын
Regina Dickerson I hunt many animals and from my experience you can't burn the skin off rabbits and squirrels. The reason it works for rats is because their hair is so small and fine. You can find many tutorials on KZbin for skinning rabbits and squirrels though.

It is an effective trap for sure but also more complex than a standard fixed snare or a standard spring snare. Thanks for sharing.
@aHigherPower7 жыл бұрын
Impressive because most people I see making traps or snares rarely catch anything. Alone series is a great example of how these so called experienced woodsman can't even catch small game much less large. This is the difference between modern and ancient man.

This is a great idea for securing food like rats on a survival basis. I'd just like to say, tho, that I hope I'm never in this type situation. I'm finding it hard to wrap my mind around eating rats. It's just such a repulsive thought to me, as I suppose it would be for most ppl. I can't help it, I just got to say it, GROSS, lol!
@SteveAubrey17627 жыл бұрын
Great videos! I agree , these traps are a much wiser use of energy than large game hunting. First off, there will always be more small game than large game, secondly, large game requires preservation skills and TIME. Time may not be in your favour. Third, these traps made from natural materials are obviously very effective, so you do not have to weigh your pack down with store bought traps. It's always lighter to carry knowledge in your head that gear on your back! Well done, I'm subscribing. MiF
