For use in desktop mode with external amplifier and speakers: buy a good tulp to jack cable, (or other connect witj a jack depending what your amplifier has, mine has tulp RCA). Put the jack in the headphone output and the tulp in cd, aux, tuner ... input of the amplifier. And if you want the standard line output setting of 3 Volt for desktop (not headphone! It will blow your ears off!) , also the same as standard on mojo 1: set the DAC in volume gain mode (first appearance of white light ball in volume in menu) en from there push the plus + ball EXACTLY 41 times for 3 Volt (this is what Chord helpdesk says). This info would be very useful in the manual: 1. how to connect the DAC to an external amplifier for desktop mode, which kind of cables you need 2. how to set the line level to the (industry) standard of 3V. (lower the 3 V if your amplifier can't handle it and produces distortion).

yes, all the way down to the first minus - and then you start counting from the first +. I have a good Rotel 100 watt amplifier, but Chord also tells people to 'adjust to taste' , stop when you hear distortion. Also they told me that some cheap budget desktop amplifiers cannot manage the standard output level of 41x , so they want you to stop if you hear distortion.@@psychoanima

In my subjective opinion, they're not necessary. All headphones/IEMs have an unbalanced cable which when you connect to mojo 2, you don't feel like to ask anything more in sound. I just got It and I find It absolutely incredible sounding(user of also hip dac, Topping NX4, NX7 amp and xduoo xd 05 plus). I feel like mojo 2 surpasses them by a long shot, except of the NX7. It's as good as the mojo 2 but It's only amplifier, but a very good one. So, mojo 2 and Topping NX7 are my favourite sound devices.

Wondered what would happened to the poly with this realize. Was quite surprised too see Chord sticking with it. The port situation looks a bit odd on the new Poly but I can understand why they did it in the end. Am quite happy as a poly user myself but I would have liked better USB type C ports on the new Mojo. But yeah it makes it more straight forward to keep the updates in check if they only have to deal with one Poly model instead of 2 so I can see why they did that. Also interesting release, I like the new menu button. I won't go out and get it straight away since am still very pleased with the original Mojo. But will definitely look more into it when I need to replace it at some point.

I’m looking forward to a Mojo sized “Pro Audio” version of the Mojo 2. My wish would be with one 6,3mm headphone jack output. (I’m using my trusty HD650 headphones for years) A balanced AES/EBU XLR input and a USB-C input with charging option. Without the micro USB connections. All the rest the same….. I would love to use it with my computer in the studio. With a digital mixer on live shows and with my iPhone in my free time. All with the same audio quality. All to have the best reference in your pocket in every audio situation.

I would definitely second a quarter inch jack! However we generally hesitate to recommend the Mojo for professional studio use because of the slight amount of latency the extra taps introduces.

I am a recent Mojo 2 and Poly purchaser and they have become my favorite audio purchases! Being a Roon Fan Boy and doing a good bit of traveling I have what I need to enjoy my music the way I love to here it without pushing my opinions on anyone else because Audio as much as anything else is just that. I wrote a very positive review on Moon Audio website but it was not published. I guess it was because I mentioned I use 64 Audio U12ts in my setup and they don't sale them.

I have the same problem. I think a good way is to remember the sequence and not to pay so much attention to the colors. Look only at the colors if you have a need to check. Skip functions you don’t need or will try later. For me for example I am only interested in plug and play and equalizer later. I don’t need info about sample rates, cross feed, lock up buttons, mute etc…Make a list about what you want to know NOW. Make a short list for the menu: one press. = function a, two press is function b, three press is function c. Use the + and - buttons to adjust you preference between the chosen function. For memory and for people who are not accustomed to thinking in colors it is easier to remember the short cut: press = function than to remember: press = color = function. I think Chord can improve their instructions greatly just by giving separate examples of concrete situations like ‘what do you do when …’ and at least should provide an alternative way of memorizing for people who are not color oriented. Its their choice to use this system (branding, looks cool, easier and cheeper to implement). It is very much also in their own interest: older people have more money and like the natural sound of music, they know vinyl and don’t like digital sounding music. Its the younger people that are more flexible in learning by colors, have less money to buy a premium dac and often have no idea or interest how natural sound should be due to endless listening to their computers and iphones. Chord has listening panels. I think they should also test their manual/ instructions within different age groups. Give them a mojo and the manual an see what happens and learn from it!

First Mojo sounded a bit flat for my taste (USB, Hifiman Ananda), as a gadget it was amazing (all inputs, 2 outputs, lots of power, big battery, heat distribution, POLY). Hope the second one improved in soundstage, musicality and imaging.

Hello Russell. Mojo2 does not have a fixed line-level mode, but you can just turn the volume up until it's sufficient for your connected equipment. Mojo2 will always remember its previous volume setting after a reboot.

@@ChordElectronicsLtd thanks for confirming. I believe the old Mojo was the same but there was a button combo to launch at max volume for that purpose. Unfortunately I have some old Stax that I really want to use and they need their own amp for the 5 pin connector, so I was hoping for a true fixed level output. The Qutest would be overkill and cost over double the headphones but I'll keep hunting for refurbs.

Well, when I unplug the charger cable, it works just fine. Apparently, the cable which is plugged to the PC also charges the mojo 2, or keeps its battery level intact.

Can anyone help? Just got a Mojo 2. When I plug in headphones sound barely comes out. The volume is very low. I have to turn up the unit as loud as it can go to hear my music. This just started happening iyt of no where

The video provides info about connecting to iphone and android but no info about connecting in desktop mode and about the fact that there is no fixed output level for desktop mode anymore. And that you should adjust the output level in desktop mode through the volume buttons.

@@milkcow It's 41 times to prevent people of blowing their heads of with headphones and ruining their headphone. Once you set the desktop mode right, you are done. The setting is memorized, even with power cut, till you change it manually. Chord says they removed the easy way of setting to desktop mode because some people accidentally set the dac in desktop mode. Also they provide no desktop info in the manual because (I think) they prefer you to buy their more expensive desktop dacs... Anyway the sound is well worth the bad interface. Voices sound much more natural, less dgital. And the 5 band equalizer is amazing! One or two db changes are very audible on my set. I corrected a flaw of my speakers with it. Once the dac is set to your taste. It's done . I also had a less good experience with an SMSL dac in the same price range. I sent it back. Interface menu was very easy, a lot of choices , hundreds of combination possibilities but no great adjusments, all sounds more or less the same. Thin mechanical sound. In summary I don't like the interface but I love the Chord sound and I don't want to spend a lot of money for their desktop version.

Brilliant video. My Mojo 2 arrived 2 days ago and I am absolutelly stuned. it's my first DAC and so far the wow factor is extremelly high. Are there any specific settings or guidance as I am using it mostly for my desktop setup and in car audio, rather than headphones? such as activcating the LINE OUT mode as I read on some forums the previous model has? Not very clear for me over the 41 clicks after the white colour led. Much appreciated response.

Unbelievable I just now receivied the Mojo 2 and It completly boggels me that they choose micro usb in 2022.... Am charging it and tried putting it on. Nothing happens when holding the power button for two seconds. I wil let it charge for the whole night if it doesnt go on by tomorrow. I will fur sure return this!

Installed the driver on both my computers, none them works, one using a micro usb input, the other using a USB C input . There is simply no mojo 2 on Windows system. When I connect the optical cable to my Samsung connect box, so sound coming out of headphone either. So far, the one device that works is the Galaxy S8+.

Use one headphone line out. If you use rca in your amplifier buy a (good) jack to tulp cable and connect this to the rca input of your amplifier (cd, tune, aux etc). Chord 2 has no fixed line level, adjust the volume with the volume buttons.

When I connect my Mojo2 to my Windows 11 PC with Roon, the settings seem to change automatically. I can put it in one mode and then watch the colors of the buttons change when the song changes. Have I put it into an automatic mode? Is mine broken? It sounds fine. Also, what to users that may be color blind do? I personally don't see green that well and it's hard to tell what mode my Mojo2 is in.

I hope the mojo has solved the portability problems the mojo 1 has. Here is my take on the mojo 1.Ok, so it sounds great through headphones or a hifi. However, it isn't mobile joy, more like mobile frustration. It is too big to fit in your pocket along with your phone, even a small phone. This confinement causes it's buttons to be pressed, turning it off. Why no option to lock the buttons. The confinement also causes your phone's touch screen to activate. I tried a screen lock app, but obviously it won't lock the mojos buttons. Also, the confinement causes the usb to be bunched up and loose it's connection. Sometimes this results in the worst noise you will ever hear in your life. Why don't they have a protection feature to stop this. The noise is so bad it could literally give some people a heart attack. Finally, there is no EMF shielding. It picks up the noise from your phone if it is next to it. Turning on airplane mode solves this, but then you can't receive calls. If your're after great sound you will only get it if you use this as a desktop device. It isn't mobile in the slightest. Also, it picks up awful noise when charging through a usb cable. It can only be used unplugged from a charger.

The mojo 2 has the possibility to lock all the buttons so this solves your problem. Charge noise: try an other charger, often this helps.

It works for me in Windows 11. I've used the native Media Player, Qobuz and Roon. The Mojo2 shows up like a sound card. It doesn't always come up as the default player and I have to select it in the volume settings.

Anybody ever watch movies with mojo 2 I bought the mojo too I'm getting to know it through my movie my Blu-ray player it's my home theater now some things yay some things nay maybe I need to let it get broken in I like that realistic sound when two characters are talking with one another so far it sounds amplified in my speakers my headsets anybody watches movies with a mojo 2?

I wish it used USB-C only. I get that you did this to preserve Poly compatibility. But do you want to keep using microUSB for Poly 2, Mojo 3 ... just for compatibility? Move on to modern technology.

USB C charge connectors take up a lot more room internally. Space is very tight as it is so they probably would have to make the Mojo case bigger to accommodate the connector.

@@apexracing741 they managed to fit one usb C connector in. I'm sure a second one wouldn't have taken more room than the other 2 (ancient) micro USB. The reason for keeping micro USB is simply for Poly compatibility which I think is silly. Poly is an accessory for the original Mojo. There is no rational reason to hold back technology in new products to keep them compatible with accessories designed for a previous iteration.

Why not use USB C everything Typical cord electronics I seriously don't want to have to get a USB C to Micro USB Adapter Just for the superior audio quality the connectivity and speeds the you get with USB C When using on mu my computer and PS5 And other devices
