Saxena on Friday sanctioned the prosecution of the Author of God of Small Things, Arundhati Roy, and Kashmiri academic Sheikh Showkat Hussain. for allegedly provocative statements made at a 2010 event propagating Kashmiri separatism, under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, according to Raj Niwas officials. The L-G had already sanctioned prosecution under several sections of the Indian Penal Code last year.

Great nations tolerate dissent. Sometimes dissent is tolerated to the extend of changing foreign policy. The student protests in the US against the Vietnam war is one such instance. People can question established stances. There are plenty of holes in the morality of India’s annexation of Kashmir. The annexation of Junnagadh comes in the way. So is annexation of Sikkim. And annexation of Nagaland. The morals of nations have to be debated.
