New Look Srinagar | Polo View Market Gets Major Makeover

On the eve of G20 meeting in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor inaugurated the first pedestrian market Polo View in Srinagar. Located close to Lal Chowk, the market has got a major makover that has lend it a touch of elegance and charm under the prestigious ‘Srinagar Smart City' project .Under the project, Rs 5 crores have been spent on the market without tinkering with the natural beauty like the mighty chinar that stand in a row in the middle of the market. At night the chinars lit up like Christmas trees with ambient lightening in the tri colour hue of the national flag. The market has already proved a great attraction for the tourists and locals. For the shopkeepers, the makeover has proved to be a boon.

Similar makeover with lights and tree plantation was seen in many cities that had G20 visit. Once the visit came to an end the decorative lights ✨️, 🌼 flower plantation , tree plantation everything was ruined & most of it was stolen. The flowering plants that were planted & mostly in pots were impossible by the local authorities to keep watering & maintain so in the end 99% were stolen & destroyed.. the amount of funding by tax payers money that was pumped in just for few days was totally ruined . Each city spent crores of rupees for planting flower plants and trees , few plants were so big that they were touching the electricity wires on the road side, no one to see what plant or tress should be allowed , any plant any tree were just put for a few days of makeover .. even cities that have shortage of water 💧 had tons to flowering plants 🪴, so shortage of water for humans & plants that needed water was a big joke. Its good what the govt did but as said just pump in money for a few days is not the answer. Even the citizens stole as much as they could ... cloth partition on roads for kms , seem like the cloth industry must have made a merry .. beautiful trees made of fiber with lights were put which was really a good thought & looked excellent but all dissapered & hopefully with electricity shortage power cuts who was to bare the bill no one knows. Will again say it was a good thought to make the city look good but tons of money pumped inn & no one to see how to keep the expenses in check.

@@smashrafchishti1339 its obvious makeover of entire kashmir isn't possible. Point is whatever was done for G20 it was done to beautify the place for a event. If the authorities at the lower level indulged in corruption , mismanagement to keep a track of things & expense someone should have been made responsible.. tons of money pumped in for a few days is not the answer . Anyways more than beautification a lot of junk is thrown out of Kashmir recently so be happy for that ...🤣🤣🥰🤣... Will end by saying the govt tried thr best to make the g20 event a success but the lower govt authorities left no change to make money in form of corruption, the citizens managed to steal most of the beautification that could be easily removed & transported so this is the real g20 story ... but again kashmir is changed for good after removal of article 370.. for which all true Indians are proud .
