So here's what's weird. At this point in time, this video has almost 6K views... but No one is subbing. What did I do wrong? Or do i just really suck and don't know it. Good thing I'm not doing these to get famous or make money.

Well, I said " NO ADS " because my channel so far doesnt qualify to receive monetization from KZbin. In the meantime KZbin has seen fit to place ads on much of my content without compensation to me just because they can... and theres nothing I can do about it.
@numbskullskills8 ай бұрын
they do that to mine too, whats up with that

Enjoyed and Subscribed. Very informative, my only critique is that it is a little long. Some tips for future videos would be to edit the video to eliminate some of the slower parts to be faster or cut them if they are not important. Also you can record the video and audio separate, at least for the hands on portion, this will be helpful in many ways but mostly when it comes to editing. For example you're free to speed up video or cut around video regardless of what you were saying. Also with scripted and separately recorded audio you'll be able to be more concise and accurate with the information you're trying to share. You can record the intro / outro portion however you like and then cut those around the edited hands on portion and finally mix in the audio you've recorded for the hands on part. You could also watch the edited hands on part while you record the audio to get the timing how you want it. ClipChamp is free for windows and I found it very easy to use for clipping video and working with external audio files, I'm sure since you've made it this far you'd be able to as well. As far as the subscribers, I would say just keep uploading informative videos like this whenever you can. Just some thoughts from a stranger, thanks for the information!

After using petro bond for almost 50 coins and having to make a mold every pour. I thank you for puting this info out here.
@Anjure_Danjure5092 Жыл бұрын
All though I've had amazing results for super high detail coins with petro bond. It just takes a crap ton of patients and a super stable hand when taking the coin out

I like petrobond for one off applications and you are correct about using it for multiple items, very tedious. Just be aware that mold max 60 won't last forever. Unlike graphite molds, let MM60 cool down before each use. You will extend the life. Be sure to watch part 2. Here's the link to my other new channel which is more focused on metal casting. youtube.com/@CastawayMetals-BGr84u?si=RS4feaOBYL0bnQYv You will find part 2 there as well as other good videos. Thanks for the comment. SUBSCRIBE?

I use soldering wire to create the air channels, and a plug of clay for the pour hole. With this method there's no need to take a knife to the mold once it has set.
@stoneageartworks99508 ай бұрын
Those work well too. A preformed spru comes in handy at times also. Thanks for the comment.
@Dunbar07408 ай бұрын
@@stoneageartworks9950 I forgot to say thank you for the video. I hadn't thought of adding a large preformed air vent, with smaller vents linking to it. I've been using soldering wire to thread individual vents to the top of the mold. Which was fiddly and could lead to blockages from spilled solder. I'll be adopting your methods in future. Thanks again.

You really provide good information. But I suggest you speed it up. Don't need to watch you mixing for 3 minutes. Please continue posting
@stoneageartworks9950Ай бұрын
You are correct, and I agree that in most cases it's totally detrimental to subject viewers to those tedious segments of demo videos. I did speed up the very first part but went to normal speed when I started talking. This video was the full version demonstration of how I make these molds. My other videos which I have split off to a separate channel... youtube.com/@castawaymetals-bgr84u?si=ej78xpzZTEKEm3uD ...skip or speed up most of those tedious segments when ever possible. If you are interested in the subject I hope you will check out my other channel which I post to regularly. Thanks for the comment.

How flexible/spongy is this stuff? I was thinking about using it for additional padding on my hat press.
@stoneageartworks99508 ай бұрын
I think it would work well for that. It is flexible but not overly so. Looks like the stuff coin stampers would use as a backer.

does it require vaccum degarassor for removing bubbles ?
@stoneageartworks995010 ай бұрын
It's not required. I've never done it or worried about any bubbles. Just don't be very aggressive while stirring the mix and be gentle and slow when you pour. Allow the mix to travel on its own slowly across the piece when you pour. I wait about 2 mins after stirring and let bubbles come to the surface.
@donwatts65886 ай бұрын
You don't vacuum the mix before pouring
@stoneageartworks99506 ай бұрын
No I do not. Never found it necessary. As long as you don't get any bubbles up against the part why bother. Pour slowly and let the silicone find itself to the part. Most all bubbles rise to the surface during the cure. At least it has for me. Sorry for the delay in responding. Ive moved all my casting videos to my other channel here: youtube.com/@CastawayMetals-BGr84u?si=UoiVB062gid_I0Ll Thanks for the comment.

I have cast Zinc into Mold Max 60... what I don't like about this silicone is it is brittle... Vulcanized Silicone is better
@stoneageartworks9950 Жыл бұрын
I've not had issues with it being brittle but just that it doesn't hold up as well as I'd like. I'll try the vulcanized silicone. Thanks for the tip. Any brand you like?
