May I suggest you create an inspection/maintenance schedule for ladle? Maybe get a friend to look it over once a year to spot things that aren’t obvious when you’re looking at it every day. One place I worked dropped a ladle and 800 pounds of metal. Luckily no injuries. Ladle went up and down 6’ or so on a hoist between furnace and pouring line. Cable rubbed on something, eventually frayed and snapped. Stay safe. Happy Thanksgiving

Heij! I just wanted to chime in because I very much appreciate Your works, I think we all do (at least I hope so). It is honorable, fundamental work. America needs people like You, small shops that do mighty work. You care about every piece, You´re rightfully proud and You make things possible that otherwise wouldn´t happen. I don´t know any foundry in a 150 km radius around my home, that´s how bad it is- and Germany is tiny against the States. I just wanted to encourage You to keep at it, I wish more people woud care. But what can you do with them blue haired gender students… Kind Regards

I have been using my CPAP for over ten years, it takes a few months to get use to. Don’t give up. Try different masks. I settled on “nose pillows”. I do feel much better, and i'm not as tired through the day. And I’m not as grumpy 😮
@randallanderson49992 ай бұрын
Clark: I also have been using a CPAP for over 15 years. I'm now on my 3rd machine. The 1st one was involved with a recall (I used it for about 13 years - no problems at all), the 2nd I used for the last year or more, but it wouldn't adjust to my breathing pattern, so I convinced the Sleep Dr. that I needed a BiPAP machine. It works great.

I have a have a likely dumb question! Can you make steel sheet metal. I would like to recycle some transformer cores, to make a new larger core, problem is it needs to be laminated. In sheets no thicker than about 1/32" or possibly 1/16" at most, i haven't measured the thickness just a rough guess . What I need is about 3"-4" wide and about 72"-96" long, electrical steel is expensive and difficult to get new. As far as I know it only differs from cold rolled by having silicon added. It's a high silicon steel. I was thinking maybe cast some 1/2" thick 1-2" wide 24" long bars. Press or hammer them out to about 1/8" thick. Then make a roller from 2" bar that can go into a hydraulic press. Run it through at about 1200° -1500° F, until it's the required thickness. If it works , I'd go to the scrap yard, buy old motors and transformers , remove the copper or copper clad aluminum, or just aluminum wire and melt in the cores down. It would be great to have a means to shear the strips to specific size. I would be making a toroidal core (like a 🍩 doughnut) it would likely need to weigh about 50lbs minimum. Probably closer to 55-60 lbs the sheets need to be electrically isolated from each other, not majorly complicated, just a thin coat of ink or thin paint will do. Some have only a light oxide layer. I was thinking about thinking about 2oz of paint with about 6 oz of thinner and dipping the sheets. Allow them to dry. The paint would probably be see thru. It would be more insulation than most get helping the efficiency, causing it to run cooler. I have also thought about grinding the cores to dust, or filings, and and mix with a thinned epoxy. And cast the core to the required size. The bits would be fine being bout .050" x .050" x it's thickness. I would need to make a mild probably from reinforced concrete, coated in carbon fiber and epoxy. And press the steel fillings into it. With probably around 50 tons. Then vacuum infuse the thinned epoxy with it under pressure in the press. Just one of the issues I have no press, especially not one that large, don't even know where one is ... don't know how to get the steel into the small bits. And not even Shure if it will work efficiently when finished.. definitely would need to make a small version about 1/2" thick and 3" outer diameter, with a 1.25" to 1.5" center. If it could be cast in solid steel it would be great. That hasn't been done since the 1800's, they learned a long time ago, it hurts efficiency greatly. The silicon steel is fairly soft it seems like iron almost. Just wondering if you may have any advice? I have been trying to figure this out for a few years. Maybe my best bet is to find some old welders and use the cores. Either make a large single core, or possibly 4 smaller cores. Thanks for the great videos, and sharing your work with us. Have a awesome day🎉 and 🎉happy holidays🎉

Why do you use a top part for the mold? The top side of the workpiece is just a flat surface that needs to be machined anyway. I recently watched an old video where a richly decorated oven door was cast 'open on top.' Wouldn't that be easier? But I really have no idea. I love your videos. Thank you and all the best!
