Moleskine Update : My Other Notebook Came! (Well sort of!)

I got sent this video, and thoroughly enjoyed watching your experience! Thanks for sharing your Moleskine experiment with us! Hopefully, the more we "expose" Moleskine's inconsistency, the more they'll consider taking the wildly inconsistent quality seriously 😭 * crossing fingers * As you said, we WANT to love these notebooks. But at this rate, they're best purchased at a significant discount through Amazon or outlet stores (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, etc), if possible.

I went to my mom’s yesterday and found out she has a roughly 10 year old moleskine notebook still sealed in the plastic! I’m dying to open it 😂 but she won’t budge!

I can't be bothered with Moleskine anymore. I love to use my fountain pens and the uncertainty of not knowing how the paper will perform has turned me right off. These notebooks are not cheap in Australia and I'm sick of wasting my money on an inferior product.

Hello, I'm in Belgium and I order all my Moleskines off Amazon. Some are sold by Moleskine as the third party. I am genuinely shocked about the amount of times you've been sent the wrong item. I am sure you know Amazon will step in and make sure you're compensated or reimbursed if you are sent the wrong item. It is one of the reasons why I prefer Amazon. I have noticed that I prefer their dotted paper the best but I don't use fountain pens, this is when writing with fineliners. I hope you have more success in the future!

It has been crazy! At one point I even had another person order for me to see if I was just some weird target because it seemed statically impossible!

I love this Moleskine experiment. But it's crazy how bad their quality control is -- even on Amazon! (I had no issues but I grab mine from other Amazon sellers or Home Goods. They are too inconsistent to pay full price)

@@curatedavalon It's been a few days so I hope you see this. I got it today and tried testing it right off. It has the 8 blocks and "forestry". For me it seems good, as good as my other good moleskines - if any better it's only slight. Which, I mean, I'm happy with that. If your purple one was notches above your other good ones then I'm not quite sure. Anyway, it's beautiful in color and I plan on using it as a planner for next year. Such a cheerful color.

it would be good to know which are good for fountain pens! i bought one from hobby lobby and it was from china, and feathered like a wet ostrage!

I’ve just started a new journal in a Moleskine expanded lined. The paper isn’t great. The Uni-ball one and the Sarasa clip antique are the heroes here to salvage my entire experience. I have several sets of Uni-ball one in different colors, so in the end I still have many colorful choices to write & doodle in the Moleskine despite the paper quality. But am I going to buy more Moleskine notebooks? Probably not. I will be probably better off putting my money on some random Walmart notebooks or even dollar store.

I’m new to this whole Moleskine issue. I’ve never had a Moleskine notebook. I definitely understand the love of certain notebooks in certain colors, and definitely certain paper with the type of grid that I prefer (not a lined fan.) I also get the interest in the investigation of the issue…however, if it’s this difficult to be able to do something you enjoy that is generally considered a relaxing and stress reducing way of expressing yourself (journaling, common placing, memory keeping, Bujo, etc.,) it seems as though this is defeating the purpose. So, what makes you not change to a different brand of notebook that produces reliable paper that is in a similar price point? My suggestions would be MD/Midori/Maruman which has wonderful papers in different weights, lined/dot/graph, they make a lovely cream and come in all varieties of sizes with consistently high quality. Also, Rhodia, Clairefontaine and Kleid have a variety of sizes and styles of notebooks that you may like, and that over the past 20+ years, I’ve never had any quality control issues from any of the above mentioned companies.

It is odd but I just haven't found anything that I gravitate towards like the Moleskine finish. It could just be that I used them for years before the paper became so poor in quality.
