I want to combine all my feelings for this song into one cohesive essay. So, here it is: I love this song so much. I would even say I love this song on a universal level. It’s because of a thing no other song can. It’s the feelings. The feelings of this song cannot be expressed nor emulated. Weirdcore/Dreamcore/traumacore songs cannot emulate it even though they all try to give off the same feeling. These feelings are almost addictive and make me come back for more. I will try to dissect the song bit by bit to try and see why it gives me these feelings. It first starts off with the beating heart of the song. The drums. They beat in a pattern for around 5 seconds and then the synths come in. The synths rise and fall giving a sense of wonder that cannot be described. They eventually settle and the chorus kicks in by Molina. “Hey, kids into dust together. Hey, kids. Eye lids heavy as leather. Eye lids.” During this period Molinas vocals seem to make the beating drums stronger giving off a supernatural feeling that carry’s the rest of the song. I find how Molina sings “Into dust together” particularly addicting. Molina also plays the first verse: “Fluffy days and nights. Looking clear but never recognized. Just hear your manic speech. Turning insidious.” During the first verse, “fluffy days and nights. Looking clear but never recognized” has a sci fi synth with a high pitch as if aliens or alien machines are laughing. After the first verse, the song partially collapses but Molina strengthens it once more with the chorus. Verse 2 begins with Late Verlane. The lyrics are: “Freaky company. Luminous hours in the mourning. Out on this plastic beach. Turning obsidian.” During verse 2, the songs seems to get weaker and weaker and after Late Verlane stops singing, you would think the chorus would come up again but the whole song collapses into a flowing river of vocals. During the chorus, “into dust together” could be prophetic as in “the song will turn into dust.” Or some sort of warning to Late Verlane. Eventually the chorus picks up again after some bass chords. Molina repeats the chorus a few times and then the song abruptly stops with the only thing playing is the slight reverb from some synth. The slowed down version does contribute on how it feels. Some might say it “hits different.” The 8D part helps contribute, too. Kokeshi. added some reverb and it “dirties” up the song in a good way. I would also like to say that this reminds me of cyberpunk and it’s main influence from Japan (which is also an influence for Molina) Thank you for reading by essay and make sure to support Kokeshi., Late Verlane and Molina.
