I find that it seems always easy to listen to your music thrice and more in a row. IDK.

Thanks! I was quite literally talking about this yesterday; nowadays I prefer to make music which is shorter so people who enjoy it can listen twice, rather than make it too long for many people.

Yeah I've listened to this at least a few dozen times now and I can't help it. I think this may be my favorite piece of yours; such a chillingly gorgeous, industrially mystical, eerily fun and quirkily bouncy compilation. How on earth you put that all into one piece as coherently and cleanly as this was executed is quite impressive. Absolutely love everything about this; thank you for your creation :)

This feels like a square song being put into my circle hole brain. I fell like maybe, just maybe, if I push the square down hard enough I'll get something incredible out of it, and I am going to smash the heck out of this brain!

alright, back at this one again... its SOO GOOD. I LOVE IT SOO MUCH, it reminds me of of so many things I love ambience-esque. this song is soo unique its just on a entirely different level... also I am curious, what are your favorite tracks of your own? so far from what I heard of yours, this one is the best, but maybe a favorite of yours could also make it onto my playlist of favorite music?

@@Xotla oh, hi, didnt expect a reply so fast! and I have to say, you are doing a great job! like, actually- I cant believe how good all this music is- you are truly a hidden gem!. Most people struggle with orchestra music, and when they eventually show they what they made, its incoherent- I feel like such big band genre music is the hardest kind of music to produce, and you got it ON POINT! I truly hope you get recognized more for your work, the uniqueness and mastery - its soo incredible

Followed the link in your Discord bio and thought it would be a rickroll. Instead, a really good song.

Ooo, I want this as a preset for my Kronos at the very least! A 12 note per octave scale should work great with that keyboard. My good instruments have to be in storage for a little while longer... but I'll try to remember to make a preset of it when I set everything back up. I might also want to try the scale of harmonic ratios that you suggested this scale could approximate. I have no idea whether those notes could work as well together as these do in this tune, though.
@Xotla Жыл бұрын
I'm sure there are better interpretations if you're going to detemper to JI, I didn't spend too long thinking of them. There are lots of ratios of 17 hiding in there if you want to try to find them, and it would be neat to use a harmonic series segment which approximates it as well like Zhea often uses. My ears just liked that selection of notes from 80edo when I was trying to work out which 12 would work nicely together, I'm trying to really work with more limited selections of notes at the moment to aid discovery.

Good job! I see you're shifting more towards Big Band style recently, and you can nail it! I wonder whether you had any ideas for choir or classical orchestra. And how did you do the visuals? Some AI tool? These merging surrealistic brass and winter forest images are so cool!
@Xotla Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm working on some more orchestral ideas in the background but they're more hollywood than classical leaning. I'd love to get involved in something more classical but I don't yet have the right experience to pull something like that off elegantly, and feel that when you start to get really subtle and detailed with your articulations, vst instruments really start to show their cracks. The visuals were done with Stable Diffusion, which is a neural network that, as far as I understand, has been taught to remove noise from images based on the name of the image. The trick is that when given random noise and a text prompt for an image which doesn't exist, it'll 'clean up' the noise into what it thought your text was describing. Do that many times per second, modifying the last frame with noise and using it as a starting point each time, and you get videos like this. At least, that's how I think it works... I just tell it what to make, when, and how to change each frame.

How did you compose this ? Great job !
@Xotla Жыл бұрын
In general or specifically? Generally, practice and good tools. Specifically, I started coming up with a bit of a tune while playing with 80edo until I settled on a selection of notes I wanted to stick to (limitations breed creativity and all that), and wrote the track around those notes using a few Kontakt instruments alongside Serum for synth textures. Hopefully that helps:)

@@Xotla How did you decide what notes to use?

I think I chose some notes I liked, and added their fifths iirc. Just used my ears mostly I'd wager, I don't recall though
