My 3 yr old son was given beetle juice by his pediatrician, and he had the worst reaction to it! They made the bumps blister about 3x the original size and were hurting him. Then when the blisters popped he had wounds all over his stomach area. The wounds have now healed, but he has scars on his stomach and legs from the blisters. I know all kids are different, but just a heads up to any parent who has a child with molluscum.

This is the best video I’ve seen so far. Thank you! I actually got it as an adult from my barbershop. 3 days prior to my diagnosis I had a haircut and close shave behind my neck…And the Molloscum is exactly along the back of my neck around the hairline. Currently my dermatologist is using the beetle juice method. The only thing that’s up in the air for me is how to protect or cover molloscom behind the neck 😮?

Getting it from the toilet is not that hard especially if you have a lot of people sharing a single toilet. It's best to keep disinfecting wipes in the bathroom and always wipe the seat before and after going to reduce the spread.

I am 46 with 4 siblings. I also have 4 children ages 26, 22, 13 and 4. I have never heard of this until my 4 year old got it. She’s had a few bumps for about 10 months! I thought they were pimples or skin tags since they didn’t irritate her. I took her for her annual check up 2 days ago and her pediatrician said it was molluscum and it will clear up within 3 years! 3 years?? I’m afraid she will spread it around or more and more bumps will develop. It started with 2 bumps on her thigh for months. Now within the last couple months they have started to come on her belly and its a total of 6. I’ve been watching dermatologist simply popping or scooping out the molluscum and reading comments of people saying that method got rid of theirs for good. I’m going to find a dermatologist that will extract them. Why would you continue to let it spread over your body or to other children. I can’t deal with this for years. That’s crazy.

@@FraterTaciturnusno I did my own research and got rid of it. I washed the bumps with alcohol. Covered it with Zinc aka diaper rash cream and covered them with waterproof gel bandaids. I did this about 2 to 3 times a week. About once a week a would dip a cotton swab in tea tree oil and dab the oil on the bumps. The key is to keep them covered while they heal so made sure to get good bandages that are waterproof and won’t come off. I also gave her multivitamins with probiotics. Once I started that all the molluscum was cleared within a few weeks.

I am desperate here. You have great information and I hope you can help. My 7 year old starting showing these in July and it’s now November. Spoke to her doctor multiple times was told multiple times to let them heal on their own. Well they’re spreading and in clusters. She has a dermatologist appointment but not until April. She has had eczema since a baby. I’ve tried tea tree oil and that irritated her skin and flaired her eczema. It’s pretty bad and on the back of the thighs and knee. Please help!

I tried the ACV and it did dry some out. It irritated her eczema so I stopped. I was covering the giant cluster with post operative adhesive bandages for a few days at a time and that seemed to do the trick. I’d clean the area with dial soap dry it well and use some betadine and put the bandages and they’re nearly gone. Thank God!

She keeps saying they can spread in the pool but what about a bath, siblings bathing with siblings ?
@adawestdermatology9834 Жыл бұрын
Great question. Molluscum can spread among siblings taking a bath at the same time. If your child does have a bath, have them bathe alone. However, we suggest that you give your child showers instead of baths. Avoid bath toys as they can also spread the virus. As the virus can be spread when drying with a towel, don't share their towels with other family members. Lastly, don't forget to wash your hands thoroughly after touching your child's molluscum spots.

From Dr. Swanson, "A medicine called Ycanth was approved by the FDA for patients age 2 and up. It is a version of cantharidin which we have used for years for molluscum but now we have a version that is officially FDA approved. There was another molluscum medicine due for approval in January, but the company filed for bankruptcy so I don't know if that medicine will ever come out!"

Thank you for the great video! The FDA and they’re approval of anything, well,….they’re all a bunch of kumquats!! We lost my wife just a few years ago to breast cancer; caused from her’ Hodgkins’ radiation treatment 20 years ago. And I’m a NHL survivor fairly recently. Remised since 2016 or so. I’m majorly psoriafied (and my wife had eczema on the back of her upper arms). I’ll let you do the math, please….my youngest daughter is now 4. About two months into my wife being pregnant with our Love, we found out about the breast cancer. MDA said my wife’s chemo did not go through her “sac” and my beautiful girl should be just fine. And I soooo believe she is. She’s so beautiful! But now she has this Molliscum sh**. It’s breaking my heart. She is so miserable and it just keeps getting worse. Is this the fault of my weak body or my wife’s weak body? It’s crushing me to think we’ve caused this for her. She just cries and cries and cries. And itches so much.
