The makeup, hair and wardrobe are perfect in this scene. She’s wearing dark smoky black eyes to show her loss of morals. Her hair is fluffy to show the chaos she’s falling into with the game yet her hair is pulled back because she still remains pristine on the outside, or the chaos is right before her. Her black dress is form fitting, as she’s currently feeling an immense amount of pressure to hold everything together.

A rake is only legal if you have a gaming license and permit! Since this is underground poker she does not have a license! She said she broke the law taking the rake but she was protecting her own ass!!!

Depends on what state you live in. In Texas, private poker “clubs” are legal due to a wording in the law despite gambling being illegal.

@@yamibakura21 Even so, they don't take a "rake" from the pot. They charge "membership fees" for access to the club and it's facilities, and they literally rent out their chairs so that you can play. It's a de-facto rake, but since it doesn't take from the chips in play, it's not a de jure rake or time charge.

This scene was designed to provide the audience with an explanation as to why she decided to take a rake in the first place. Of course she didn't take a rake in the middle of a game, you cant do that. But for people who don't understand why, it does a good job to show how fast things can get out of hand and provides an explanation why its important to take the rake in the fist place. During play peoples emotions are on high and their egos are under attack which causes players at times to fall out of play and swing the fences. Usually this type of action is followed by big wins and losses. Those who lose may still feel the pressure, excitement, and or desire to get revenge for play and take out loans through the establishment through things called lines of credit , which have to be consolidated (paid back) at the end of the night or days game.

Question from the Players perspective: Wouldn't players get pretty pissed off If they saw the Dealer just blatantly taking chips out of a Live Hand? Especially If nothing like that was agreed upon or discussed before the night started? I'm not a gambler but It'd be hard to believe something like this goes down In real poker Games. .

@@tomasperez7841 it wasn’t FBI agent, it was FBI informant and FBI cooperator, likely the dealer girl, or multiple of the girls, FBI grab them up and couple guys with suits show up and use big words and lots of legal papers to scare them and give them the choice to easy cooperate and have all charges dropped or get charged with serious offenses

I am confused at all these comments. Pot raking is a standard practice. For Hold 'em games the dealer won't rake unless the hand gets to the flop and usually it's much higher than 2%. So why did she say 'it's illegal'? Because it's illegal if you're not licensed to do it and the law exists not to protect the players- nope, it's to insure the government knows which casinos are doing this so they can get their share in taxes. God forbid the Casinos pocket people's undeclared money as 100% profit. The biggest inaccuracy is the dealer in this scene put the rake chips back into her holding tray when usually those chips would get dropped through a slot and into a safe box. Also, with three million in chips flying around the table the house better have a smart dealer who can not only manage the game but also be able to calculate everything on the fly. Lastly, with a three million dollar post-flop pot a 2% rake would only make sense if it were a standard practice not just executed on one table in one hand. Others have said the players were aware of the rake and expect it (at the levels involved) but if the house can't cover then collecting $60K seems a bit lean. In a one-off situation a minimum 5% would make sense because if you're going to charge the rake you might as well at least try to cover your nut. Some houses will offer incentives to the best players to return by giving them a 'rake bonus' (a fixed percentage of the final rake) if they make the final table at a tournament. This is done due to competition as some casinos have lowered or sometimes eliminated the rake to draw in the best or highest rolling players.

@ratliff2006 lol it makes no sense for a few reasons one no player would allow someone to take 25k off the pot midhand with out warning. the other is she keeps talking about not being able to pay off and that shes "the house" but shes running a poker game poker players play each oither the dealer doesn't play. she just hosting a poker game that's it why would she have to pay anything out

because thats what a house/casino does and gets paid for it... they hold the players money "safely" and trust them to do so. In the event of a cash out the players can redeem their winnings or rest of their money. What she is worried about is the players that "borrowed" money from the house and she feels uncomfortable because they could just walk away and not pay... then how could the house pay for it??
