I read all these “top 100 guitarists” lists and see a shocking list of names who shouldn’t be on there. Then you have Molly, a REAL guitar picker and master. It shows you what people know, zilch.. nada. She outta be in the top 10.

I wonder if Billy Strings is on that list....probably not.

She did win IBMA guitar player of the year, so she isn't going unnoticed.... and her brother Sully is just as good as she is. Maybe he'll start getting noticed someday, too.

Those lists lean heavily toward rock musicians and rarely consider those in other genres. They're easily ignorable.
@garypaquin95712 жыл бұрын
@@rdalin Wonderful point. The only two rock guitarists who could keep up with the bluegrass cats were Stevie Ray Vaughan and Rory Gallagher. Molly, Billy, Trey, Critter, Julian, just to name a few…all equal to the jazz greats. There is lots of nostalgia for rock and blues musicians. The young Turks of bluegrass are taking over.

Was thinking same. So controlled yet so relaxed. Easy to forget the primary hand with so much focus on fretting, examples like Molly have me forgetting those woes and compensate with a good right hand. Not that she doesn’t have a pretty good left hand as well.

Always Fantastic!, Is there a specific fiddle part written, or does Bronwyn Keith improvise ?
@oldtimetinfoilhatwearer Жыл бұрын
It's all improvisation based off of a loosely consistent traditional melody. You could completely go off the melody and just play the changes and it wouldn't be out of place

Excellent point. Kyle is a working musician…and also an excellent one but being a side player doesn’t pay much nowadays. Even the headliners have to tour year round to make a buck or two.
