The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. They added an old school doo-wop feel to it. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family.

I think adding the doo-wop style was perfect for this song as it originated in the '50s (for the prison-themed movie "Unchained") and Tim's voice in the beginning really set the mood. Loved your reaction! I like to see "non vocal coaches" react because they/you will give more of a true reaction to the message and "feel" of the music. I'd bet you would like some of Tim's solo work from his new doo-wop album "Pieces Of Me", where he does all of the vocal and effect layers himself. There are three releases of it on KZbin..

The frist version was sang by Todd Duncan in the movie of unchained 1955. And the video of him singing this song is on YOU TUBE. Many other artist have done it over the years.

Austin Brown, the second soloist in this song, has an amazing solo version of this song. I hope you continue to do more Home Free on your channel. We Home Fries (Home Free fans) will binge your Home Free reactions whenever we find you. I only recently found you through your reactions to them. I wold love to see you react to End of the Road. So nice to see you back with a Home Free reaction. If you'd like a recommendation, they did a great version of Lonestar's, Amazed, and has a really cute video to go with it. Great job.

My absolute favorite rendition of this song. So unique and creative. Tim having the opening solo, then transitioning to Austin was perfect. The harmonies were beautiful as they always are and Adam's percussion was on point. I especially liked his drums building in intensity and volume right before Austin's iconic high note, it felt like a launching pad for that note. The gritty prison setting for the video was perfect visuals and stayed with the original theme of the song. The music and visuals both evoke the misery, longing and loneliness conveyed by the theme of the song. Our guys covered yet another classic song and made it their own. Home Free are wonderful. Love them. "Ain't Goin' Down Til' The Sun Comes Up" an awesome video by Home Free. It's only on Facebook due to a copyright issue. Having the video backwards makes it look weird. ???? Glad I've seen the video dozens of times cause I can't look at it like that.

Love that song anyway and they just bring it home. They are fun and funny guys too. Home Free went back to the roots of the song. It was written for the movie Unchained about prison in 1955. Loved Tim (bass) and Austin’s solos. Loved the black and white film and the typewriter. So well done. Good reaction MB. 😀

Molly, during the past year HF has released a lot of material that is exceptional and this is one of their more recent ones, but they have some really great songs that you need to check out. When A Man Loves A Woman, Amazed, One Man Band, Bless The Broken Road, Mary Did You Know, Make You Feel My Love, and Brothers in Arms, to name just a few. Your viewership and subs will rise significantly if you do more HF reactions. The Home Fries will support you.

Oh Lord, yes. It's ridiculous. You start reacting more often to Home Free, and the Fries will show up en masse. As long as you're OK with most of your subscribers identifying with Idaho tubers, you should be fine.

Yeah, I thought so too when this first dropped. Then I listened again to Bobby Hatfield singing it, and damn. I had to change my mind. It belongs to Home Free now. No dis to Bobby, though. It took more than 50 years for anyone to outsing him.

This song reminds me of when I was deployed overseas. The wanting to be home, the wanting to be with your love, you hoping she’ll wait for you, deal with lack of communication ( no cell phones then) and separation. You wait for letters like a starving man for a meal. You just want to go home. In my case, she didn’t wait.

This was good. as with everything that Home Free does. I listen to a lot of the “big 3” acapella groups and I had not heard this one and was unexpected because Austin does this as a solo and was unaware that all of Home Free had also done it. If u want a different take that is absolutely one u gotta see (even if u don’t react to it) this song is also done by Voiceplay ft John Pinto jr. love it. Great reaction Keep em coming

Reactions doesn't take "experience" in the industry --- but we do enjoy those too! :) Honestly, we want to see if you have the same expression we, ourselves, had. I'd love to see your reactions to even more HF ... but I've been stuck on them for 7yrs now and it doesn't seem to be letting up. If you find something ya don't like ... There are some 1,500 renditions of this song, some of the artists included Elvis, The Supremes, Al Hibler and Roy Hamilton. They are paying homage to the 1955 movie "UNCHAINED " where Todd Duncan introduced the song.

Lovely cover of this beautiful song. I love to hear new interpretations of classic songs as it keeps the songs fresh and current, however I'm yet to hear a cover of Unchained Melody that beats the Righteous Brothers (or more specifically Bobby Hatfield's) 1965 cover. Incidentally it was originally produed as a 'B' side to a Righteous Brothers single record called 'Hung on You', however it was Unchained Melody that took the record to the top of the singles charts. Also, the song was originally written as a soundtrack from a film called 'Unchained' which was set in a prison, so Homefree did their research and your comment about the video being set in a prison was bang on the mark! Have a great day pretty lady! :)

I know this song hearkens back to the mid-century movie called “Unchained” and they portray it fabulously in this video, but I do hate seeing our guys behind bars. 😕 However, they can definitely "emote" through their music/videos better than just about anyone else out there!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️

Thanks for the reaction, I didn't realize they covered this song until now. I love hearing Home Free's harmonies and arrangements. ...But how about something completely different? Please consider Zaz singing her 2010 hit "Je Veux" (trans. 'I want,' or 'I insist on' ) I hear this as a song of joy and rebellion. Yes, it's in French, but this YT video is recorded as a "street performance" and has English subtitles: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppumkqd9m7-Lb68

Hi Molly, This was great and I am right there with you That was outstanding. I think you will ready enjoy Mayday by Home Free . Mayday was written by a female (CAM) and is a female country song in her version I think you will really like it. May Day is a rather popular request and for some unknown reason, a portion of the commenters suggest waiting to listen to it. There is really nothing special about May Day except the singers trade parts ,. As if that is some big, big big deal ? Perhaps if you were still in 7th grade, it might mean something ? That is just a really a dumb suggestion and to think that you would not notice or even be concerned in any way just seems foolish. . Thanks Molly We love you. With love from Florida kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ_Sh2idg6lsnZI
