Nice video! As I write this, it is January 2024. I've been a permanent full-time resident of Molokai since March 2019. Molokai is still far less developed than "Big Island" (the Island of Hawaii), Maui, Oahu, and Kauai. Molokai is a wonderful place to live. "The Friendly Island" is a great nickname for Molokai, as it has the friendliest people I've ever lived amongst. Living here amongst the native Hawaiians truly is a blessing. that is the Molokai i remember from the time i was in the navy at pearl harbor, oahu, 1973 to 75, and when i was able to visit Molokai on weekends and vacations to visit my Aunt Emily and my Mondoy cousin's from Kalae, Molokai. Molokai was always a breath of fresh air, for me, while living on a metal ship docked in pearl harbor, and my fond memories of Molokai have not faded over time. I have only been back to Molokai a few times, in 1976, i think, for my cousin Paula's 1st marriage, and in 1979 for my marriage at the Sacred Heart church in Hoolehua, and in 1986, and the last time was in 2000. Molokai has changed some since the 70's, but Molokai is still better than Maui or Oahu, and someday i hope to visit Molokai again, if i am able to. Molokai was my 2nd home while i was in the navy, not quite like the family farm in southern illinois, but better. Stay strong Molokai, and do not let the tourists and the developers change what makes Molokai, special.

I grew up on this wonderful island in the 1960's and early 1970's, in Kaunakakai and Ho'olehua. So many great memories, and such deep respect of the island and people. Though my family and I no longer live in Hawai'i, Moloka'i in particular, we still consider ourselves kama'aina.

An African-style safari existed here on land owned by Molokai Ranch. That was before my wife and I first came to Molokai (as residents) in 2017. We initially had a condo and lived here just part of each year. In March 2019 we purchased a house and sold our condo. We've lived here with our love for the island and its people growing each day since first coming to Molokai. In my opinion, Molokai is easily the best of Hawaii.
