Before the robots get here … I just wanna say that I built my PC about 4 1/2 years ago with your videos. It has never crashed, it’s been running great, the best PC I’ve ever had. Thank you and have yourself a great day.

Another fantastic roundup, sir! I am really excited to get my hands on Erica Synths Labor. Not only for my own prototyping, but my kids (ages 9 and 12) are taking an interest and learning how to solder. I love that Erica Synths is really taking an educational route. AND… Thank you for the kind words on the Slight of Hand, and Arp of Darkness. I’m so excited for you to play with the AOD. I hope you find it enjoyable, and useful!

I think the absence of real musical talent began to show its claws with the advent of sampling and software such as acid. I've had so many acquaintances show me their latest song they said they created/wrote and it was totally put together by combining pre-recorded patterns. Having the computer do this for you, albeit with patterns generated from a pool of programmed instructions which one culls from, is about the same thing. But if there's joy in the creation and in the listening despite the origin, does it really matter? Is "AI shaming" another form of bullying? I think that musicians who play their instruments (and I'm including those who patch their modular) have a greater chance for success if they showcase live performances whenever possible. Bottom line, it's all music and not guns and that means a lot to me - which doesn't mean it has to mean a lot to anyone else. My sentiment. Cheers Robin.

Lol, I started out using acid pro, copying and pasting prefab loops. Thought I was making some cool industrial music, but most sounded like rave or techno. Never sold any but entered contests n stuff online. FFWd 10 years, and my cousin with no prior experience arranging music in a Daw, used it to make his own cds with several tracks he copied and pasted together and sold them at work.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I should have just quit back then before wasting any more money on gear 😅

@nickdestruct well, that comes down to what your goals are. Are you making a product for sale? Are you making sounds for yourself to listen to? Are you playing music for the joy of playing, without a care for whoever else might listen? Are you making love song specifically to reach a special someone? Huge variety of motivation and goals that can lead a person to make music. And just as many ways to judge your success.

Great question. Intentional Music vs Generative music. It's become as relevant as the Analog vs Digital question. There are many of these today. Players vs Programmers, Acoustic vs Electronic, Modular vs Computer vs Synthesizer, DAW vs Live, Improv vs Written, educated musicians vs self-taught, hobbyists vs artists. In the end it's all music, but when the gear does all the work, what does the musician become? Are modular sound generators really that different than using a computer's plug-in generators to do the same? Is a parameter Tweaker a musician at all? All pertinent, all important to someone.

@@MoltenMusicTech I get you, and understand, but I'm really really old myself, and remember Linux mint as easy and sort of similar to windows, but better support. A bit like the support from the community on modwiggler, but faster. Also I'm into eurorack so obviously I like problems ; )
