It is immensely tiring and expensive, they need a lot of food before and after molting, also until their new body and fangs harden, they can basically get eaten by pretty much any minor threat, be it a small scorpion, another smaller spider(basically non threats, become threats when spiders are molting).

So, by looking at the molt. I can't even see if it's a female or a male. If it's a female, check in between the book lungs. Then, check at the spermathecae. If you check there's a spermathecae, it's a girl! Also, male tarantula has tibial hooks at the front of their legs. Hope this information helps you.

They can bite, but usually they don’t. That’s why most tarantula owners don’t handle them much (and also because they’re very fragile and can die if you drop them)
