just began listening in, first one, I gotta say I don’t think the 16 year old is in the wrong (though I do, somewhat, agree she was an asshole about it)..mainly because its her party and she wants it a certain way AND I took the back story as in this girl has had to alter what she wants for her birthday ever since her 10th one or whenever and it seems the step sister repeatedly does things that causes everyone else to accommodate her (thus, her mother and husband were essentially disappointed in 16yo girl’s behavior towards step sister) and just becomes the cyclical expectation in relation to the autistic sister. So, she’s decided this birthday will be all out what she wants and for a change not have to include her sister which she says she doesn’t feel close to. That being said, I am open to the possibility home girl (16yo) is spoiled and desires a lot of attention; still, its a pity the girl’s only 16 and she’s already reinforcing a trauma response instead of a healthier resolution. And, as someone who had too many siblings (9) and parents weren’t ballin’ nor really threw parties like that nor hand out presents for free, I understand the girl’s sentiments of “can I have something for myself for this one moment please!?” and at the same time I understand the deeper issue is how this 16 yo girl is allowing all these outside factors affect her (but I mean, also, she’s 16 and clearly isn’t tapping beyond the surface).

I agree, or told her friend when she sold it "hey btw, you can't wear this infront of my husband or post pictures with it." Because then OP can decide if she wants to spend money on something she can't even wear.

I think the little sister should keep the what she got from the gift card, if the 16 year old wasn't so ungrateful she would have found the gift card to begin with. The olders sister just lucked out in my opinion.

Mom needs to take everything little sister bought and return it and then take the return money and give it to the older sister not reward the younger sister by letting her keep what she essentially stole and punish the aunt by telling her she has to now spend another $250 she doesn’t have

For the house post i think its valid to say that if someone has an issue with something, they should take action... and that doesn't mean fixing the house by hand like Nikki assumed the commenters meant lmao You made a wild assumption and ran with it lol maybe OP can try calling up some people to see what the costs would be and then try drawing up a financial plan? If OP has time to post on reddit then she's got time for that. Also yall apparently missed the part where the dad said he didn't have the time or money? I'm not sure OP actually knows their financial position. The dad thinks they don't have money but she says they're doing okay. That's two completely different sides lol and considering the fact that she has pre-marital debt (it sounds like its a good amount too) and he is the sole-provider, I'm more inclined to believe him. I'm not saying the house doesn't need to be fixed but she could do more than just complain about it. He did fix the house before the kids, so it honestly does sound like he's short on time and money.
