I loved how the Dad got locked in the office which made him spend time with his daughter. I guess somebody wanted to make the father learn to spend time with his daughter for the first time in a long time. Christmas is a very special holiday by being with loved ones. It was evident that Max wanted to live each and every moment she was spending with her father. It's always a child's right and delight to see both his/her parents sharing a warm relationship.
