I'm taking requests for 'Anything Wednesdays" so you can reply to this comment with your single (audio/music video/live performance) requests that are non-One Direction related and I'll start choosing some of them starting the first week of November!

Good catch! Some info: During the XF and earlier years (first two albums- 2011to12) both Niall and Louis didn't really get that many solos and even if they did they were short.. both of them were severely underrated and overlooked by their label and team. In 2013 they fought for more creative control over thier work and from then on released 3 incredible albums. So you won't really get to see much of Louis and niall sing in these up until later. The interviews and shows really bring out their individual personalities and they each shine in their own way

Well, dang, that's disappointing. Quick question. Do you have any suggestions on songs where the solos are better distributed between the members within the albums and are there live performances of them?

@@80sladyreactions33 Yes! There are some gems! I can link them here album wise.. I'd say for most songs that you should first listen to the studio version, followed by live performance, followed by live performance ON TOUR.. during tour is when you really see them being idiots while still somehow nailing their vocals. It's great to see.. I'll make sure to link tracks with fairly distributed portions from their first album below along with both versions of live perf

Harry and Liam were the most experienced followed by louis, before 1D was made. Both Harry and Louis were in a band and had experience performing on stage. While Liam was already in X factor once and he had a great background in music/singing. Which is why Harry and Liam were put as the front, mainly Liam since he was most experienced vocally too. They were usually given the most parts while waiting for the others to catch up and gain confidence, good vocal abilities and technique. Besides that, I hope you reach 100 subscribers very soon! 😊

Great reactions! :) I'm an older fan too (my fave boybands were of a different generation lol) but gave these guys a chance recently and they are really good. Niall is my personal favourite but they're all wonderful. You're in for a wild ride! After X Factor, I'd recommend checking out their albums and music videos. Also their live performances, which really allows them to shine and show their personality on stage. Funny thing is, I'm also a big Oasis fan but I would agree that Oasis songs are not always the easiest to sing. The 1D songs and performances outside X Factor will really showcase all their individual vocal abilities. By the way, the cute host is Dermot O'Leary. ;) He actually recently did a podcast interview with Niall that you can find online! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

Wow. Thank you so much for all that information. I love Oasis too but I don't know what kind of witchcraft goes into writing the melodies for their songs. They're just very hard to wrap your voice around. DERMOT!!! Thank you. I'm definitely checking out that podcast. He's a cutie patootie!! My favorite bands are from a different generation too. lol I think the only real boyband I got into was NKOTB but I'm excited to do this. I had some health issues and then the pandemic hit and I got into a funk. The young women in my life, that I either raised or help raise, thought this would be fun for me and I somehow let them talk me into posting it on youtube. 😂 They assured me that I have a perspective that isn't always represented in videos like this and there will be people who find it as fun and entertaining to watch as it is for me to do. So here we are. I'm glad you're enjoying it so far!!

@@80sladyreactions33 I'm glad you're doing these reactions--you notice things and comment on things that some other KZbinrs haven't. For instance, I didn't know the story behind the song "Torn," so that was very interesting to learn! If you have time and are interested, you might like to check out the boyband Take That (one of my fave bands) which is a British boyband that started shortly after NKOTB in the early 90s. You might know Take That as the band that Robbie Williams came from. They pretty much wrote all their own songs (which is unusual for a boyband), did their own choreography, and had heavy input into their live shows. Shortly after Robbie left, they broke up, in 1996. But then they reunited ten years later in 2006 and came back with a bang, and they've been active ever since. In fact, they're arguably a better and more popular band after reuniting. Their story is quite something!

Thank you! It's my favorite hoodie. I'd never be annoyed or upset with any of the members. I know how bands work. This is just my first introduction to them and I'm still trying to get to know each of the members and see what they bring to the band and their talent and it's disappointing to see that some members are passed over. I just keep in the back of my head that they all have solo careers and I'll get there eventually and get to see each one shine on their own and on their own terms. It's very exciting!

Harry might have sounded funny saying things like that when he was 16 (it wasn't funny for me tho, I was kinda impressed). But he never back down, changed his mind or turned around or sideways. He's focused on whatever he's focused on and now he's kinda legend in the making. I admire him. All his talent and looks aside, he's a rare person just by his personality alone. Gotta love this guy :)

Exactly. On all of the singing programs headed by Simon Cowell you can NOW sing whatever you want as long as it's approved by the artist to air on the show and stays within the music budget. Back in 2010 I know for American Idol for sure they used to save money during bootcamp by picking a handful of songs beforehand for the contestants to choose from. They always chose older songs or songs from artists signed to Simon because they were cheaper. Not always the best songs to show off the contestants and a lot of the time they would all pick a lot of the same songs because they didn't recognize a lot of what the had to choose from. Case in point. Ruben Studdard's winners song was "Flying Without Wings" because it was cheap. Simon already had rights to that song because Westlife was signed to his label with Sony and UMG. They may have been able to choose their own songs but if they were choosing from a bunch of songs they didn't know or didn't showcase their voice how fair was it really? Do you see what I mean?

"Story of my life" is everyone's favorite. You can do the official music video. "Night changes" is amazing, both the music video & the live performances. It also has an acoustic version which is pretty nice. "Midnight memories" & "live while we're young" & "best song ever" great. "You and I" is a great song with good music video and better live version (San Siro performance).

Dancers they are not!! *lol* They refused to dance as One Direction. I felt bad for Zayn though. But he looke proud afterwards that he did it. Yes, they focused on Liam because from what I've seen the TV audience love when contestants come back and they just want to cheer on people they know. I liked Liam's singing. I agree it probably wasn't the best song choice but just urgh, I hated what Simon said there. Oh dear, Tom Richard, the last boy that made it... he didn't make the judges houses. He came back in 2018 and auditioned again in front of Louis. It was really awkward to watch tbh. He didn't make it to the live shows then either. :o Don't cry! But it really was emotional wasn't it. Imagine being thrust together with strangers and decide on the spot if you want to continue as a group or not. Life changing moment. And they didn't even know if they could sing together! They were at such a disadvantage compared to the other groups. Singing together is not the same as singing solo. Mmm. Louis was probably not singing as he had not practised with them. I can't hear him either. You won't really hear him on X Factor ever. You can hear him once with Liam for a second or two in one song but they weren't really on key together for that. Louis's real first solo didn't come until they did the X Factor live tour after the competition was over. Then he got some small parts where you really heard him. Like in the Bruno Mars cover Grenade. Loving your reactions so far!

Great reaction im glad you're on this journey. And yes Louis was lip syncing there bc he couldnt rehearse with them, but also bc (controversial opinion here) he is just the weakest singer in the group. Honestly during this time Louis and Niall were the weakest singers and they werent given many solo parts, they were mainly chosen for their charm, charisma and their young age. But over the years Niall improved a lot and as his voice matured he's become a very good singer now. Louis however, although he got better, is just not a good singer, he has a unique soft tone but he lacks control and has a very limited vocal range. Despite that, i still think he contributed so much to the group and was very important, bc later on he became a great songwriter and played a big role in writing their last 3 albums. Also with his big personality (which you will get to see later if you continue to watch the X Factor journey videos) he lifted the whole mood of the group and made things very vibrant and fun, which helped them get through their difficult schedule with all the rehearsals, appearences and all the media pressure.

Honestly, I don't think any of them are technically "weak" singers I just think they have different strengths. And, also, a lot of it has to do with personal preference.
@saadx7724
@saadx7724 2 жыл бұрын
@@80sladyreactions33 Oh yeah that's true, music and singing are very subjective and are about preference i agree. But there's also a standard of quality and some things are simply good or bad. For singing there are different vocal tones, styles, and to each their preference. But when it comes to the vocal ability, the control, the range, the technique, they all can objectively be judged to determine whether you're a great singer or not. And Louis is just weak in all those areas to be brutally honest, but that doesnt mean he cant convey emotion or touch people with his voice, like i said he did improve a bit later on. Niall was also limited at the start, but as his voice matured along with practicing and learning technique he has become a very good singer by now, with great control and range. Still im a fan of all the guys regardless, i think they each brought something to the group that made them successful.
@80sladyreactions33
@80sladyreactions33 2 жыл бұрын
@@saadx7724 Ahhhh, but, music is good or bad based on the arena in which it is played. Which is also subjective. I'm not a music teacher. Most people aren't and I'm not picking apart their technique to decide if what they're offering me is good or not. Mainstream and even indie music is judged on the merits of: is it unique, does it move me, how much enjoyment do I get out of it? Based on that they are all good singers. If they were in a technical setting. Opera, classical, etc. none of them would be considered good enough so at that point comparing them based on weak, strong, control, range...all becomes subjective again. None of them are "technically" good singers or have the range and control of a technically trained singer. And, consequently, if you tried to put opera or classical music on the radio I don't think it would do well because a majority of listeners wouldn't enjoy it or think it's very "good". Some of the best singers of the last 100 years never hit a "money" note or did a run. Their voices were unique and had good tone and conveyed emotion and moved people and as far as I'm concerned that's the main ingredients for a good singer. I'll take someone with the ability to make me feel things over someone who can hit a high note and leaves me feeling indifferent. I haven't even gotten into any of One Direction's discography and they already make me feel so much joy. You can't really ask for more than that from an artist.
@Danisk852
@Danisk852 2 жыл бұрын
You can F off kindly because I dont care if you think he is "the weakest" Louis has a good voice just because he doesn't have the biggest range or the most pop voice I think, his VOICE in particular was very much needed during a lot of the songs in the early days as well his harmonies are amazing, there is no debate on whether he is a good or bad singer he can sing end of story he's doing pretty well solo regardless of what people think. I would listen to him acapella any chance I get , he was definitely a lot less confident in these days because of people like you and maybe management saying things like this. I'm not trying to be rude and I can agree that they all have very different strengths vocally, but I've heard them sing songs without Louis and I have to say it just isn't as good his voice in needed in a lot of specific areas. not just behind the scenes though I now he advocated the most there.
@saadx7724
@saadx7724 2 жыл бұрын
@@Danisk852 It's okay you can be rude all you want i understand the topic is emotional for people, but im just being honest. I love Louis, his personality was my favorite when i first became a fan of One Direction all those years ago, and like i said he did contribute in many ways to the group, to this day i still think he's the best songwriter out of them his solo music has great lyricism. Also i agree that his unique tone brought a nice contrast to the harmonies on the higher end, he can bring emotion as well with his softness and the raspy quality later on i really like when he does that. Music is subjective and ofc you're allowed to love his voice, but im just being real here, he is technically not a good singer and is weak on so many aspects far behind the other guys, also his chain smoking didnt help bc Niall was able to improve greatly since they started and Louis barely did.
