For me (army mom here) a “manly man” is a gentleman first of all: kind, respectful towards others, humble, brave and not afraid to be himself. BTS boys are 100% that! Goofy, funny, super talented boys with big hearts 💜 Cute story: my 9 year old daughter recently introduced to BTS, asked about RM (Rap Monster, leader of the group): “does his name stand for Role Model?” Yes! I said without even blinking 😄😄😄 because I do want my kids to influenced by people like him. They bring so much joy to the world with their music and do much more than that! I think the best way to start to know them is with “BTS Most beautiful life goes on (2021 update)” by Asian Theory. That’s how I started and down the BTS rabbit hole I went 😅

And there is nothing wrong with being androgynous either. To me they have very soft features and I was just pointing that out cause in most groups there is diversity so everybody can relate to some-one. As a mom, I find it difficult to raise a boy in America, so much toxic masculinity going on. The moms are so judgmental toward each other. If your boy dresses certain way, he's not considered a manly man. What is a manly man? Someone who has tattoo all over or dress in black or grey? The way they act or dress don't make them men. Besides, men are humans and they have feelings. They can show their weakness and cry when are in pain. If you want to see manly man concept you should check out Mic Drop. BTS dress according to the concept of the song. They are not just dancers or singers but also performers.

Than you mis understood me… I find it great that everybody can be who he wants to be . I love diversity tho and in this group I do miss that. Which is totally okay too, but I was asked for my reaction/opinion and this it is. And tattoos and black or grey does not make a guy manly or not… you are or you aren’t . Being manly is not toxic and being feminine neither…both is okay… but I feel nowadays it is almost a crime to say your preference out loud without being called judgmental. BTS (Bulletproof Boys) is a 7 member boy group that debuted in 2013 under the small Korean company BigHit Entertainment (off c they're not small anymore 😅). With more than 300 releases, they are now the biggest band/ group in the world. Yes, I'm talking about numbers, popularity and selling, they are currently the biggest, surpassing bands like The Beatles, Coldplay, One Direction... NO, THEY'RE NOT androgynous, it's just common in Korea that men (specially "Idols") uses makeup, act cute and stuff first because the beauty industry is there both for women and men, and it's considered a symbol for perfection. BTS started with a hip-hop style but they have a diverse range of genre currently. Their songs are usually pretty deep and they talk about a lot of subjects like social problems and their own experiences/learnings. BTS is the first non-american/asian act to win the AMA's for Artist of The Year. There's so much more to say, but I'm sure army will tell more about them (army is the name of the fandom).

When they first debuted as a hiphop group, they REALLY leaned into the macho man thing. As they aged and matured, they became unafraid to dress/embody whatever vibes the song calls for. It's just another aspect that makes them so appealing! :)

Oh yeah, the surprise is there ARE a lot of "underground vibes" songs from BTS. For example, the song Ugh and the songs from the rapper Suga (aka Agust D). Dynamite is their fully English debut song, which means it's made for the American/west pop market. But originally BTS was more of hip hop group, if you dive in and check out a little or their more than 300 projects, you'll find so much diversity when it comes to music genre... Black swan, On, DNA, We are bulletproof and Fake love are completely different from this one you guys reacted to.

BTS is for all ages I am 52 and they are my favorite group. There are 3 rappers and 4 vocalist and they do all genres of music from rap, hip-hop, ballads, R&B and pop. They have over 350+ songs so there is something for everyone and all there songs sound so different from each other which is not the case with most groups. They were nominated for Grammy last year with Dynamite and another this year for Butter both there English songs. I much prefer their Korean songs. I recommend Introduction to BTS 2021 by IDA S which will give you more background on each member.

He was picked for dancing.and He learned rapping with the help of RM and SUGA.this doesn't discredit Jhope in any way,shape or form. In fact it makes him extremely impressive. O my… I just woke up in the middel of the night and see the comments are exploding! It was no joke… BTS has a whole army, and it’s a loving beautiful one!! But people , when I stated they look very androgynous in this video I ment no harm , I was just wondering if it was on purpose, marketing-wise that 7 beautiful boys with soft features were put together and dancing between 🌈. That would have been very 2021 and beautiful too! I am a strong believer that everybody should be able to be who they want to be and I raised my son the same. We are very open minded . But it seems my question has upset some people and there are more comments about that , then about the music . Before i was army, i was drawn to manly men or the stereotypical macho men. But when i became army, i had a different or change how i view men... and because of these 7 humble, beautiful boys... i have learned that men are still men despite of appearances and that they are more beautiful if u can see their vulnerable side, which they are not afraid of showing. I love just about any song from BTS, and i love their songs in English which they currently have 3 tracks that are in all English (dynamite, butter, permission to dance) which is more for the western side. However their songs in Korean is just on a whole other level in which I can't explain, they are so much more better than the artist songs from the US. Some of them have deep meanings, and they have rapping and singing in their other songs, their music is just out of this world and their music videos are just chefs kiss. I hope you dive more into their music and what they stand for and how they got to where they are at, these are an amazing group of guys. Just for you to know, korean culture is like this, they care a lot about they appearance, especially they want to look young and delicate so man can use makeup. For example in NCT (kpop group) there this 2 guys 'Taeyong' and 'Yuta', they both have more sharper feature in their faces, and some kpop fans says they look "scary" "intimidating" and even they go too far to make a fake rumors about 'Taeyong' being a bully in highschool.

Hello friends, I'm 47 years old ARMY, nurse, mother of three and I live in Brazil (I'm using a translator sorry) I understood your comment about their appearance because when I met them it caught my attention, we're used to the parameters Western masculinity, but they made me research and I realized that each region has its own, they are South Koreans and in Asia the care with beauty is taken very seriously regardless of gender, just like with women here in the West, at the beginning of their career in 2013 the company tried to put them in "characters" but today they are themselves and this is a big difference for a totally manufactured world that is the musical world, BTS is unique because they write their lyrics, produce their album and they are extremely kind, charitable and kind with their fandom (I'm not exaggerating) they are 4 singers and 3 rappers today the raps are working their vocals to sing too and singers like jungook who can rap if they want so tat slow as you are, anyway i hope to see them getting to know their work and they better, you guys are cute.

The 3 rappers of BTS are extremely special. They’re all very involved in the creative process of their songs unlike other groups where their “rappers” only rap bc they can’t sing or rap what’s been given to them. RM and Suga both came from the underground scene which has really helped them in becoming the rappers they are today. Though J-hope did not start as an underground rapper but rather a street dancer, he has proven himself to be just as competent as the other rappers. All 3 of them have written, composed, and produced their own solo mixtapes all while still being members of BTS. Thankfully, BigHit (their company) gives them waaaaay more creative freedom than any other kpop company.

Just FYI, Kpop fandoms can be very touchy when comparing groups, that being said Blackpink is at the moment the biggest girl group and BTS is by far the biggest Kpop group and boy group. Now for information on BTS there is lots of english subtitled content on them, music videos, behind the scenes, funny moments, dance practice, music videos explained for those who want the meaning of the songs. The list goes on and the fandom translates a lot of the content. There is even a really huge storyline woven into many of the music videos together called the BU. It is complexed and woven with notes and hints. Lastly there is lots of introduction content BTS 7 members of bangtan, BTS hardships there is quite a few on the list introducing BTS. The short story is they are a rags to riches story in itself. The boys came out at a time when the music industry was ruled by 3 big agencies and smaller agencies didnt get many opportunities. Following BTS alot of smaller agencies now stand alone, so its been along hard road for BTS to get where they are. The music genre's change with BTS, they have 3 very strong rappers and 4 strong vocalists, with one of the rappers also a vocalist as well. The is lines the dance line, the rap line the maknae line (youngest group members), they all do projects as well. The rap line has released solo albums, the other members have done TV series OST songs, they have also release covers of songs they like and appreciate as well as collabs, the latest collab was with Coldplay being My Universe, there is a documentary on both groups getting together they also performed live at the AMA's. Alot of information to absorb but compared to what is out there on the boys the content is enormous. BTS they are now currrently performing in LA, so there will be current content available on that soon as well.......last but not least there is also 7 cartoon characters called BT21. The members designed the characters themselves and there is also some cartoon and songs with them in it, also there is a chain of shops with merch with all various BT21 characters.......

Even now I avocate that the boys are stronger physically and mentally now from the ordeals and they have a stronger agency protecting them as well. All 3 rappers have their own mixtapes and BTS also have many rap line songs with just the 3 rappers on them, especially their Cyphers 1-4. 2 of the members were underground rappers in South Korea before joining BTS. When listening to BTS you have to keep in mind their versatility you can go from a song like Dynamite, to a ballad, a hardcore rap song, and edm dance song, an rnb slow jam, to a jazzy groovy song. We often say BTS doesn't fit into any 1 genre, the genre is BTS. They've been a group for over 8 years and have hundreds of songs to choose from.

Congrats on the beginning of your exploration of BTS’s discography! I just started delving into BTS’s music 4 months ago (seriously late to the party!) and I haven’t been this excited about music since Pentatonix won the SingOff competition. TaunT “son”: For rap, I suggest RM’s old solo song “Do You”, Suga’s “daechwita”, Cypher pt. 2, Hip Hop Lover, and Ddaeng. Please check out the doolset explanation of Ddaeng lyrics. TaunT “mom”: When I first saw BTS, I also thought the makeup made them look a bit androgynous. Took me a minute to get used to the Korean aesthetic. I didn’t even realize I had internalized Western stereotypes until then. Growth is good. While there are many songs I would suggest (Spring Day, Black Swan, ON,and Blue and Gray are a few of my favorites), I suggest you start with a live version of J-Hope singing “Mama.” Better have some tissues handy. So many wonderful songs await you. Enjoy the journey!

We do have a very low tier tho… only 2,50 a month so most people can join for as much as 1 cup of coffee a month. But we have to do something to put my son thru college . It’s hard to find Asian men as leading male in the western entertainment and corporate world. They are relegated to supporting roles. I guess when you said “gender neutral” it kind of set me off. BTS members have not explicitly said what gender identity they are. But it doesn’t matter, as you said. Get to know them. They have a ton of contents on their KZbin channel BangtanTV and Vlive. As you noticed they are 7 in total. 3 rappers(RM, Suga, J-hope) and 4 vocalists(JK, Jin, Jimin and V). "RM" is their leader. They usually all sing in the same track but as they are 7, sometimes they might have shorter parts in a song and longer parts in another song. They were orginaly supposed to be a hip hop group. And they do have a lot of songs with that vibe that you can listen to. You can try "mic drop" for starters, most American seems to like this one as it really is great. But honestly they have a big variety of songs in different genres, they are not only pop. Also each of them have their own solo songs and mixtape which i recommand watching them after you got to know them as a group first. They have 3 songs that is totally in english, other than this one, there are "butter" and "permission to dance". Seriously they are fantastic. You'll definitely see it. I hope you'll continue watching and listening to them.

Who they are, how they dress, and why this song is in English has already been explained so I’ll just drop some recommendations here: 1. For rap I’d check out a few of the rap line tracks: Ddaeng and Ugh have live performances you can check out but I don’t think they have subtitles (you can check out a lyric video on top of it) and the live Cypher medley is siiick (I think there is a version with subtitles) and so is the live Outro: Tear. 2. For COMPLETELY different sounds (and more Korean lyrics-make sure to turn on the subtitles!!) try: Black Swan, Mic Drop, and On: Kinetic Manifesto Film, and there’s a dance practice version of Baepsae. 3. For MORE rap each member of the rap line have their own solo tracks: RM (check out Joke), Suga goes by ‘Agust as’ when he does his solo stuff (HIGHLY recommend Agust D and Daechwita) and J-Hope (airplane). 4. I definitely understand and respect what your mom has to say. But I also really appreciate BTS for trying to push away toxic standards men have against them that they ONLY can be that manly man. Welcome to BTS!!! Just take the next year off from whatever else you are doing, and dive into the BTS rabbit hole. There is a lot to take in… These 7 young men from South Korea were created and brought together (I believe they each auditioned) by Big Hit Entertainment (now known as HYBE). They debuted in 2013 and were more of a rap group at first, but have evolved into a unique sound of their own. They have so many good songs, I don’t even know where to start. Some of my favs are Mic Drop, Dope, Blood Sweat & Tears, Fake Love, DNA, Idol, Life Goes On, Butter, Permission to Dance, Baepsae (Silver Spoon ~ dance practice video), ON, We are Bulletproof, NO, War of Hormone, and Anpanman. There are official videos for mostly each of those songs, and also dance practice videos, which are just as fun to watch. I’m sure other viewers have also given you info on BTS. They are the complete package ~ dancers, singers, rappers, and overall entertainers. Their fan base, called ARMY, are the best and so supportive of BTS. I was lucky enough to have just seen them live in concert in LA a few weeks ago, and it was awesome! Enjoy your journey into BTS…you will be so happy you did… ☺️💜

I think being androgynous is not a bad thing. I just got bullied because of it. But let’s all be honest … I. This video it is all very soft, rainbows and make up … I saw this for the first time and though it was on purpose and that it was very 2021 to look gender neutral. But some lovely Army joined our patreon and we did a BTS week and talked about one member every day . I know now they have different looks in different videos . I still believe they look much younger than they are .. which is a good thing too 💜

BTS is actually very inclusive and anti gender norms. They change their appearances for whatever vibe they are going for for the song/performance. Believe or not, they are all very muscular and some are super ripped (cut six-packs...), but they don't always flaunt that. This was also a year and a half ago and they've all been working out in their spare time during the pandemic. There are three rappers and 4 vocalists. This was super poppy on purpose and their first full English release that was their own track (they've featured on all English tracks before). Their rapline is known as some of the best rappers in the game and Suga, the one on the basketball court, is know as one of the fastest rappers and is sometimes compared to Eminem. His solo music is under the name Agust D.
