I don't think you need to completely be in your kids personal bubble 24/7 sense space is extremely important, but so many parents ignore the signs. Especially in kids that are depressed. I've noticed some parents get too close into kids personal bubbles and when their kid confesses or shows them the signs they completely ignore them because they didn't actually care and just wanted to feel like they had power over the kid.

This woman is a hero and an inspiration to all parents. I'm 25 years old now and I remember being so annoyed when my mother and father went through my things when I was a teenager but now I understand that they meant well. Back then I was in a really dark mental state and they just wanted to make sure I was safe.

My ex didn’t have helpful parents. Before our relationship began he admitted he resented me for not speaking to him as often and how he had thoughts similar to this. I decided to just be with him, for the sake of whoever. I hated my life, and I thought the only way out was killing myself. We have broken up and to my knowledge he is in a healthier mindset and doing good things for himself. He had abusive parents and his mental illness was caused by environment. This woman did right by her child. She’s helped so many people, or even one person, from having to bare that burden. If his parents cared, they could’ve known what was going on.

@bribri8042
@bribri8042 2 жыл бұрын
@mypetdonkey that’s such a cut and dry mentality to have. I grew up battling severe depression, and turned to self-harm. Never in a million years did I want others to experience my pain, nor did I ever place blame on others for my suffering. And at that same time, my parents never knew I was doing the things I was doing to myself. Though they did recognize something wasn’t right and got my a therapist and psychologist. We are deceitful individuals, and with enough shame, we will hide our traits, habits and motives. Just like a spouse who cheats on another. They know the pain and repercussions (providing they aren’t mentally stunted), and yet they carry on with their infidelity. Blaming the victim-spouse isn’t right. I fully agree and understand, too, though, that you can be a product of an environment. But to just “she’s probably to blame”, that’s an incredibly diluted thought.

Her son went to my high school. I was in a class with him, we even worked in group projects together. I never saw the signs, but after this came out, I remembered a time in class when we did a shooting drill. We all sat in the back corner of the class in silence. I very clearly remember him saying that these drills were stupid, because “the shooter would be a student. they’d know we’re all hiding in the corner” I think about this almost everyday. I had constant nightmares. I saw him working at a store a couple years ago and had a panic attack right there. We had an incident at the same school only a year before where two students broke into the office with weapons. Luckily they were apprehended almost immediately, but we were still in lockdown for hours, not knowing if someone were about to burst through the door and kill us. I have so much trauma from being a student in America, and it’s the reason I dropped out of that high school and moved to an online program. The nightmares have only just recently started slowing down, and I left 4 years ago. We can’t keep living like this. I wish I could thank this mom. She not only saved me, but she also saved my little brothers. In the notebooks he planned to attack the school on the anniversary of Columbine. In my opinion, this was not “fantasy” he was writing. I’m sure he actually planned to do this. I still have panic attacks when I think about this and what could have happened.

It’s a heartbreaking situation as well, and I hope she has a wonderful support team in her life to bring her comfort and love. I also appreciate that the child was not around guns, as any child needs to have those out of their easy reach. Even adults that struggle with suicidal, homicidal, or just aggressive behavior need weapons as powerful as guns to stay away from their hands. Reasonable actions like that saves lives. ❤️

@@lawrencejackson7153 And where are YOU from “Lawrence”? Is this always your pickup line with women? You sure seem to use it a lot with women on this video! 🙄 And let me guess. You have a dearly beloved mother who needs an operation that requires a small loan from one of these lovely ladies - 3rd one I’ve found so far

This mom is the "mother" that our society truly values and puts above all else. So many people have children but are never parent them. Hopefully her son can talk to her again and understand that she did this video to raise awareness, not bash him. Whatever was in that book were his own actions, and it's not her fault she called the cops, she had to. Not only does he have a true mother, but one that protected him from doing things he might not have thought he was capable of. Not many people can say that, they go down all sorts of wrong paths, he had a mom who put him on the right one. I hope he can regognise that serious actions have serious consequences and "forgive" her in his heart. His life could've taken a much much worse turn if she ignored that book.
