The fuss is all about that your never do that - plunge a baby monkey into a tub of water. It is tantamount to terrorizing them as their instinct at that age is to fear water. And later when mom introduces them to water she is got them on her back. This method plunges the baby in without an comfort or feeling secure. Great screaming for the camera to make a good video but have you ever seen a mother plunge her newborn into the river? No they groom then to keep them clean and grooming is important and comforting and fosters a boond. Plundgeing into water and soaping them up - which usually burns their skin - is absolutely not a good thing for a infant monkey. This is not a human baby and does not like baths, especially as monkeys do not bath their children in this manner, although they do teach them to swim. It does not matter how gentle you are when you are terrorizing a baby animal - its still a horrible experience for her. Great videos if people like to watch the baby scream - but a terrible thing to do to that baby.

@@melaniejonker3033 From what I understand and you will see it as you go along and see the video about where they were "force" to turn Heidi over to the WildLife Alliance and read the statement that the officials left they are having a very hard time with the VO's up there filming all the time and often doing their best to cause a situation where they have to 'rescue' the baby and they they take it home and hope that no viewer don't report them and they loose the baby. No videos are more popular then of the things they do to these babies once the 'save' and that makes them all sorts of money on YT. If YT would stop monetizing the videos as they are fostering animal abuse they would not be so driven to out to each other this the drama. Its always an excuse that the baby was going to die if they did not rescue it and so on. In this case had they done the right thing when they picked the baby up and gotten as near to mom as possible and let her go she would not be safe in mom's arms. Instead the "heros" took her home claiming she was a goner if they did not. If you watch their other videos she quickly healed from the bumps and bruises of the fall (monkey heal exceptionally fast) but what was done to her in there care ius why she is so sick now. A baby that young needs just moms milk, yes as their teeth come in mom will let them chew on scraps and the like but more for teething and to teach them what the right foods to eat taste like but they really get nothing from the small things they eat, Milk is the most important as it is really all they are good at digesting. Giving her things like birthday cake and other crap they fed her long before a baby should be filling up on solids would just sit there making her feel full while it is doing nothing for her except make her think she is not hungry and does need to nurse. Add to that the bad position the baby is held in, on its back with a hand containing it and they don't feel comforted by scared at the restrain and then they are forcing a liquid the baby does not even know is "milk" because it does not taste like what mom gave her. PLus most monkey are lactose intolerant and regular milk and even baby formula is bad as it is made from cows milk. So Heidi was literally starving to death with a full stomach since her body could not process all that. Mom would have been able to sort her out pretty quickly as small sessions of nursing and gett monkey milk into her would have force that food to move on through and then she would be able to drink more. There is really nothing more that she needs right now except her mother because she is grieving that loss on top of everything else. There is only one VO that I know if that actually took some time to learn about monkeys a bit and started to do things as they were right for baby , and not just to get a lot of views. They were warned about dunking her in a tub of water and so they wiped her with a damp cloth and groomed her. However they did give in and I saw where they had a headline up where her "mother (aka human partner of the VO) gave her a bath in a tub of water and dunked her in. I guess the right way to care for baby and the fact that she was not having fits about it made his views drop off so baby had to have some drama. The only way that will get them shut down is a concerted effort by viewer for reporting the abuse, and complaining to YT that these are not "wildlife documentaries" but actually staged and instigated drama to be able to have the best clickbait in the title. I was a little disappointed at the WildLife Alliance with a baby from a troop that is there and they know the mother and they still took her off to a cage. Yeah she was traumatised and not fed well and pretty sick but she would get better a great deal quicker with milk her mother produced and time to be comforted by mom. Sadly now that she is with them she will probably at best be a sanctuary monkey and never allowed to be released into the wild with her family and troop. So there were a lot of mistakes here all around. Thanks to the "hero" that rescued her she will probably never get back to her mom, the troop or the wild but look forward to a long lifetime in a cage - might be a big enclosure but she will not be able to go where she wants and that's a cage. Having your own "rescued" monkey that you can get to do dramatic stuff is the stuff dreams are made of for some of the VO's. I am not sure why , if they really feel like they do in the statement they made and is posted on the Wildlife Alliance channel about Heidi's rescue, then they should be making it clear to YT that this is not WildLife documentaries but but creation of videos for dramatic effect and most of it involves everything from just pestering the moneys, poking them with sticks, bother them when they are birthing and doing their level best to lure babies away from mom. And for them it a jolly good show when a baby is injured in some way - usually do to its own clumsiness but with skillful editing it can look like mom injured the baby or mom just walked away when she saw how sick she was. And this is immediately a sinal for them to snatch up the baby on the pretense of 'saving it" although their job does not have to do with saving anything but a good catch of some drama happening around them. It is really said that this happened because if the "heros" had not decided to keep up with the other VO's that scored a baby at least til the authorities heard about it. and have their own baby for 24 hours a day would of collecting video of them. Had they simply gotten as close as possible to mom (and there is no chance they did not know who that was) and put the baby down the baby would have headed to mom and mom would have rushed to baby to snatch her up. And she would have healed from the bumps and bruises she got in the fall, just as well with mom and she would not have spend 5 days being given food she could not digest and not properly nursing her or giving her comfort but then again if they did the right thing they would not have their own personal cash cow in the couple of weeks til died from the care they were giving. This whole circumstance was crazy. and I am not sure that Wildlife alliance got the true story as most of these VO claim a baby and then get reported - the story is almost always the same "found this baby abandoned with no mother around and no idea where she came and could have wandered in from another troop" and that they had no choice but to save her. They did an excellent job at ruining life for this baby. The best she can hope for now is being sent to a zoo somewhere that has a big open air monkey exhibit or she will be released into a sanctuary - but neither will happen until she is sterilized so she will never even have the comfort of having her own child.

These babies are often introduced to the water within weeks of birth, sometimes days, by their mothers who will get right into a lake or pond, etc with them. They can swim within a week or 2 of being born. Long tailed macaques especially are well known for their love to swim and even catch dinner under the water at times...they are excellent swimmers and frequently do it just for fun on hot days so it absolutely is NOT their instinct to be fearful of water at all!

They kept drugging Heidi at night and keeping her in the storage room with the vendors products, for the temple area in Battabang Cambodia. She was eventually rescued by the wildlife Alliance but the damage had already been done and it was too late. When she died she was about the size of a newborn baby. They had been starving her almost since the day she had been born.

That was another macaque, you can hear the warning cackles and signature banging when the grab ahold of something like a fence or tree limb and shake it back and forth really hard and fast. Some say it was this youngsters mother, but I see no proof of that and have no idea how one would know that except for anecdotal evidence (if even that, fabricated may be more likely).
