5:40 There's one card that's wrong in the discard... Instead of the 2 Cotton Jen has the 2 Explorer card discarded!
11:22 No... in a 2P game each player has 3 Bonus Markers, in a 3 or 4 player game each player has 2 Bonus Markers
17:09 And that wouldn't do her any good because you need to have at least 2 Bananas to activate that bonus and Jen only had 1
20:04 And forgot to draw a new bookkeeping tile.
This goof will be repeated several times, no more notes will be made about this goof!

Rules Error: When you used the explore action to expand Cape Town you can only advance in Cape Town, not any region. it must match the firm that explored.

Rahdo, don't you think that the theme of this board game normalizes and depoliticizes the heinous history of the colonizing scramble of the African continent?

no, i think creating a simulation of the economics that leads to such human suffering is important because it demonstrates and teaches how these things can happen. If someone enjoys playing mombasa, there's the chance that their intellectual curiosity might be piqued, and they are *much* more likely to take an interest in the history than they otherwise would have been, in theory to enhance their appreciation of the game they love, but in the process becoming more aware of the full story of everything *around* the game they enjoy. and they'll have a better understanding of the forces that can lead (and still do lead in our modern world) to this sort of human tragedy. IMO the developers went out of their way to shine a light on the human cost of what goes on the game. literally the very first thing in the rules is "Game and History In Mombasa, players acquire shares of chartered companies based in Mombasa, Cape Town, Saint-Louis and Cairo and spread their trading posts throughout the African continent in order to earn the most money. Chartered companies were associations formed for the purpose of exploration, trade and colonization, which links them inextricably to a very dark chapter in human history: global colonialism. This period lasted roughly from the 15th century to the middle of the 20th century and is associated with exploitation and slavery. Although Mombasa is loosely set within this time frame, it is not a historical simulation. It is a strategy game with an economic focus that roughly refers to historical categories and places them in a fictional setting. The exploitation of the African continent and its people is not explicitly depicted within the game play. If you want to learn more about the underlying history, we recommend the following read: History of Modern Africa: 1800 to the Present by Richard J. Reid. (Blackwell Concise History of the Modern World). Wiley-Blackwell, Oxford."
