Hello, i have installed a unifi controler 6.0.23 on my computer to manage one AP LR, and i've bought tree others UAP AC LR, shall i install unifi controler again ?. Cause when i get connected with the new one, i still see the former parameter i've configured for the first one. Another problme i've encounter is the credentials when i install the controler on a new windows machine, the credential i fill is still wrong. is there a new way to set credentials ? for exemple create it somewhere before use it ? I faced some issues as I had to hard reset my unifi. I can log onto the SSID network but only when am logged into the unifi dashboard. When turn off the pc the wifi won't appear to other devices anymore. Also it says 0 active devices eventhough the device still appears and it connects. My speed is also limited to 100Mbps when it should get to 200Mbps just like my other Netgear access points. Any tips?

+Faisal GH, Hi! The only scenario where you would have to keep the controller up and running is when you have the Hotspot Manager with vouchers running. In small deployments controllers are good just for setting up several APs. I would reset again your AP and change the firmware either from controller or reflashing it.

For the controller, do you have to have a dedicated device up all the time in order to use it? Or can you just install the application on a Windows device that starts up/shuts down all the time i.e. just your normal laptop? Just wondering if this kind of thing could really do with spinning up a VM that is constantly up.

+Richard Hill, It is not actually a service it is more like an application that runs when the user logs on which is not very helpfull unless windows does not have a password. You can add it to the startup. A VM works very well as the controller does not load much the processor in our experience with close to 600 users now.

I would like to have some information: once the APs are deployed, can we turn off the UNIFI controller? If so, what would be the consequences if an AP restarts?

Hello Hippolyte nzue, yes you can turn off the controller and APs will keep their config settings and else. however what you must always have the controller on for, is the hotspot management and logging of users roaming through your premises.

You did a wonderful job in your presentation. Your screen was different from mine. I have the UAP: UAP-LR (802.11N WI-FI Access Point. On my page I do not see the name of the unit that I named. Eladio Perez, I believe Unifi APs can only repeat other Unifi signals, in that case a Unifi AP cannot work as a repeater of an existing network.

I understand. So every time I go to the porch, in order for me to get a better wifi signal (which is incredible fast-59mbps), I have to connect to the Unifi. Thanks so much.

You can even do it with just the App: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6van4WOlrBgf9k The app or the controller are the best ways to make changes in the settings menu, they don't have to be active all the time!

Hi Guys. I need your support. I just got 2 Unify AP AC PRO to setup in a vlan environment. If I guess Well, setting things in this case consist on puting both the vlan and controller host on a untagged (native) vlan for administrative information passing through the network. I do that and I am able to adopt it but when it come to connect to any configured wireless net (even when i create these Network in the settings field ) I can't have an IP Address. So my questions are: To configure such an AP in such an environment, i need to: - Connect these elements (Controller Host, APs) in the switch management vlan (on a port) - Create VLANs into the Controller "Networks" field using the vlan only purpose - Create Wireless net .. Why haven't I IP Address since I have dhcp in these VLAN ? What about the trunk usage there ? Why have I AP default IP of 192.168.1.20 for the to AP and why if i haven't setup manually my IP haven't I able to adopt these AP? Even see them ? I see in the video that you have a 192.168.9 .... IP ...... Thanks to explains. Please guys need your help... Trying to use my Unify AP I dreamed about since but I can't !

Patouat, Hi! I hope we can help you. We would start by testing connectivity from a manually configured fixed IP in one client with the DHCP server. Test and retest that the DHCP are in the same VLAN or that they are not far appart and are passing through an untagged port. A simple ping with firewall off temporarilly in both machines will tell you if your clients are "seing your DHCP". Let us know how it goes.

When you asked about networking I remember that my dhcp was able give IP only to the computer inside the same VMs host. Trying to figure out why I'm getting my packet dropped on this interface. Using Xenserver.
