What a treat to watch her storied life and legendary career unfold. I think in public exchanges, Martha appears to be overly confident, perhaps even arrogant. But to hear her play immediately grants her an entire cosmos in which to expand, whether we join her or not. “One mustn’t imitate oneself” is so true for a pianist I lately have been playing my keyboard backwards to not fall into the same cyclical playing I might go for, and both have to learn and listen more. Obviously there is ‘style’ - but then self imitation. That is not boredom but it a way to keep frm advancement.

That Scarlatti is known to be very hard due to repeated notes and sometimes your finger can miss them or get ‘stuck’ as the piano might not sound again quickly the way it should.
