Hello MommaTaunT ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This live recording is from Wacken Open Air 2013, together with Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I just posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: kzbin.infocommunity

People not used to metal often have a prejudice about what it is. There is a lot of metal that is angry and screaming, yes. But there is so much more metal that is every other emotion, every other passion, with so many different influences. It's a beautiful and very broad genre of music. World of music, even. Thank you for your reaction.

She has had her surgery, which included the removal of a lymph node, and is hopeful to resume the European leg of the current tour on the 20th November. welcome to the fantastic symphonic metal universe of Nightwish Band, their live performances are some of the things that come so close to epic that they get to be mythical and of course Floor Jansen, queen of the stage and goddess of music, she can sing anything in any musical style she wants (WARNING! her voice, her stage presence, her charisma, in one word: her "spell" is highly addictive). this concert (wacken 2013) is incredibly epic and deserves to be watched and reacted entirely, song by song, in particular I suggest these three songs: "song of myself", "storytime" and "ever dream" this performance of "ghost love score" is one of the three best performances of the nightwish band, together with "the poet and the pendulum" from 2015 concert at the london wembley arena and "the greatest show on earth" from 2015 concert in tampere - finland (actually there is a fourth best performance: "dead boy's poem" from the 2018 concert in buenos aires).

A big welcome to the Nightwish Universe from Nightwish Army Denmark 🇩🇰 👍 You have barely scratched the surface of Nightwish's and Floor's capabilities with this one - they are going to blow you away. Their talent, skills and versatility are unmatched - ever! Floor is by far the greatest storyteller ever! And Tuomas are not known as Metal Mozart for nothing! His stories told wrapped in complexed poetic lyrics, are really something else. And I am also a surviver - so I know, as well as you do - what Floor and her family are going through the next months and years. But Floor is a remarkable person - so I'm not worried at all. And I would suggest that you seriously consider the go to one of Nightwish's up-coming concerts in Holland - they are an insane experience live - and in The Ziggy Dome I expect there will be a duet with Henk Port (Phantom of the Opera) - which they already did in Beste Zangers 2019. Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰

Sadly most people think on harsh screaming and fast loud guitar sound when they think of Heavy Metal, but Metall is much more, there are thousends of Sub Genres. Floor Jansen was inspiree by Anneke van Giersbergen (former Band was The Gathering at the time Floor see her singing in a Metall Band), also a dutch Metal Queen, like Sharon den Adel of Within Temptation and Simon Simons of Epica. You see, the Netherlands are a hotspot of amazing female Metall Frontsinger. I'm glad you like it and thanks for the beautifull reaction.

Pay special attention to Floor when they return. - she builds it more and more. I will insert the time once we get there - 7:30 something..... EPIC!!! WELL?????

I keep getting my socks knocked off. My recommendation for your next step is Storytime, same concert, Wacken Open Air 2012. A bit of context... She had been with the bamd as a fill in vocalist (still wasn't announced as the permanent replacement) for the 2nd Nightwish singer, Anette, for about 6 months at that point. This was the first time most of the people in that crowd had heard her sing. And look how they respomded. Amazing. 😃

I am very happy for you in that you had a chance to experience the magic that we all in the Nightwish Army have. I've watched this video at least 100 plus times and I still get chills and emotional. I hope you react to other songs from this same live 2013 Wacken concert. It's always fun seeing other react to each song. None of the songs are the same and they each have their own story. No cookie cutter repeat stuff. It's amazing how good they sound live. That's a rarity in music since most bands don't sound as good as the studio recording when they perform live. I would recommend you listen to "Storytime then Romanticide followed by "Song of Myself" next and in that order, from the same concert. On a separate note, the Beste Zangers performance you mentioned of Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort features Floor Jansen. Grab your tissues and enjoy. I can't do patreon due to my layoff and am just getting by, sorry. Enjoy Phantom of the Opera. Floor Jansen also performs Lady Gaga's song "Shallow" on the show. Be sure to watch her solo version 1st. Not the duet... Welcome to the Nightwish Army and I'm looking forward to any future songs of theirs that you may react to. Thank you!! (PS, there were 82,000 fans at Wacken).

A whole constellation of Dutch female metal singers emerged in mid to late 90s, starting with Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gathering), then Sharon den Adel (WIthin Temptation), Floor (originally with After Forever), a little later Simone Simons (Epica) and Charlotte Wessels (Delain). All very distinctive sounding, all absolutely amazing and awesome, not to mention quite accessible. So if the Dutch angle piques your interest, there's quite a bit to explore and enjoy.

Thursday is all about close harmony and The Weeknd in the weekend for now … but Metal Monday is born I guess … so much to discover ! 🥰

@@MommaTaunT Close harmony on a Thursday? Floor and another band member Troy did an acoustic version of one of their songs ('How's The Heart?'). Would that count as close harmony? kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4rXnIOme76thdE

Next song should be "Dead boy's poem" live from Buenos Aires. Beautiful ballad and still very "nightwish".

I concur. She asked perhaps a ballad as her next Nightwish song and this is it.

I LOVED this reaction, thank you! Please take a look at Gabriels list and just start going from start to finish :D Please, please, please do not go off from the list. It introduces various elements of Nightwish in a gentle manner, one at a time. And please do not be tempted to jump off from Nightwish and react to Floors other projects until you're deep into the list. Nightwish is her home. Her other music is excellent and powerful, but the Nightwish journey will provide you all kinds of weird experiences like symphonic metal, folk, sea shanty, classical, opera, dance, trash, and the list goes on. You will literally never know what the next song will bring. Gabriels list has a few places where 2-3 songs in a row are similar in style, but they're still excellent and introduce other elements of the band.

You will think, after hearing 3-5 songs, that you think you know what's coming. Trust me, you do not. You will think the same after 20 songs, and still you will have no idea.

Beautiful and very respectful review. (I discovered NIghtwish in Oktober last year.) Your face shows it all: Respect, surprise, admiration, amazement and tears. The whole Wacken 2013 concert is that good so you are in for a treat. Just follow Gabriel Bardac's list. That is every? fan's guide. Just enjoy your beautiful Nightwish journey. Nightwish are incredible, especially with Floor. There are a multitude of songs that Gabriel will give you (and you need to hear them all) but if you want a REALLY emotional song, you need to listen to Dead Boy's Poem live in Buenos Aires 2018. It makes me shed a tear and I'm a 52 year old bloke.

One of the crazy KZbin-Nightwish-Army-Folks who follow Gabriel in our journey reporting in. I love it so much, when the banging of the head is changing into shaking the head because of the unbelievable sound of Floors voice (4:22). Thank you very much for your very nice and emotional reaction. Greetings from germany... and from a neighbour... the suggestion to declare Floor to a national treasure 😀 Usually I would not give any advice for next song cause Gabriel says everything that can be said. But as you asked especially for a ballad... you may try "Deay Boy's Poem" ... e.g. in the Live version from Buenos Aires 2018.

Hi MommaTaunT. What a lovely reaction to our beloved Floor Jansen and Nightwish. Many of their amazing live performances bring out so much emotion in all of us. There are a number of emotional ballads that they do but I would recommend Dead Boy's Poem from their live show in Buenos Aires 2018. Here's a link to that one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 All our love and wishes for Floor's complete recovery from last week's breast cancer surgery.
