"Although on the TaunT channel I do already reaction videos, it was time to do some solo as well. Over here I can choose myself (at TaunT I never know what is coming) and I can go deeper into the lyrics from a mental health perspective . I will primarily react as a mom but I am also bringing my years as a therapist and mental health counselor on the table"
Most of all, I would love to react to all kinds of music and hope you will offer suggestions for songs you think I need to react to DM me on instagram.

As you can see from the video she moves around a lot, whipping her head about, and running and jumping. This dislodges her ear monitor quite a bit, so she's always fiddling with it, shoving it back into place.

I had to be here, to see your first reaction to Tatiana's voice, especially since I received a notification :) this morning that you will do this. I take advantage of this special moment to subscribe to your channel, because "Metal Monday" sounds good. There are so many great artists in the metal genre that you will have material for years to come... I understand very well the shock effect that the first meeting with this band can create, and that you are not in a hurry to continue exploring their music. But if you still decide to do it, I suggest you listen to "Home Back", and have the lyrics close at hand, because they are really significant.

From a mental health prospective, I'd suggest Perennial live at Wacken, it's much better sound and the lyrics / vocals are Amazing. It's about seasonal depression Like Perennial flowers being reborn every spring. Also more singing than growling.

Great reaction! I love watching reactors hear this song for the first time. I understand that Tatiana is self-trained in using harsh vocals. She is doing it correctly in my opinion. 🔥Welcome to Jinjer, MommaTaunT! I just found your channel through your reaction with your son to the live session of this, great reactions, subbed to you both! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and beautiful growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wakeup alarm for a couple years and I still love it more every time I hear it). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the very long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 I love the story of Tatiana getting interested in learning to growl. In her own words, "I was inspired by Otep (Shamaya). When I was 15, my friend showed me a record of House of Secrets. I was like, ‘That dude - his voice is so powerful'. And he said, ‘Oh come on Tatiana, that’s actually a woman!’ I was like, ‘What?’ She blew my mind. That was the time, the moment when I realized I wanted to shock people just like her. I just had the feeling or the intuition, like an extra sense that this is what I’m made to do.” Three of the four current members had essentially no professional musical training when they joined Jinjer, the exception is Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. They've been a tour heavy band, on the road almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020, partly because of the US proxy war in Ukraine, and still touring again now since the covid shutdowns, hard work that has made them fantastic live and they make it look effortless. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, videos are out for Vortex, Mediator, Wallflower, Disclosure!, and Call Me A Symbol. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds a lot of riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016 after the third drummer got partially paralyzed from a tragic spine injury and the fourth drummer couldn't keep up with Jinjer's touring schedule) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they've considered their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see former Jinjer guitarist (and one of the founders of Jinjer) turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, on guitar in older Jinjer videos, and acting as an interrogator in one of their newer videos, Disclosure! One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines her beautiful growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites of mine are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard (or double react), so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: hope you'll keep trying more Jinjer and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

Tatiana is a poet and to place so much of herself into these intricate lyrics and then perform them with this truly unique range of emotions. Being from Donbas, Tati has experienced some horrible things and the music doesn't dodge this ("Home Back" for instance). Nor do other Ukrainian musicians like Daria Zaritskaya. They are great artists and whatever ones politics no sane person wants the bloodshed to continue. But the lunatics that led us to this won't talk without absurd conditions. Its tragic and wrong, but the musicians have had no part in it.

Hi there! It was cool that you decided to give Jinjer a listen. I could say the same thing as everyone else about the version you were able to find, but I won't. I will, however, ask that you think about giving them at least one more listen. Tatiana has such a wide influence for her singing. There is a song that she recorded during the lockdown called, Judgement and Punishment. Her band recorded the music separately and she was able to lay the vocals down in one take. From there, you will also be able to hear her different influences, musically. Maybe, you'll give it one more try. Thank you! 🤘🏽🇺🇦

I'm always up for a Pisces reaction - usually hilarious (and is perfectly fine to be startled by the growls) - it is interesting that this is the Wacken version not the studio one people tend to use. The lyrics are much more clear and crisply produced *live* - that is quite a feat. The duality makes sense for this song - Pisces has paired symbology - and the song references two beings. There are a number of sub genres of metal that feature growling. Sometimes explicitly, sometimes a "Beauty and the Beast" contrast of a female clean and a male growl (Epica for example) and a few bands with women who can switch. I find it adds texture and adrenaline - But prefer it when the vocalists diction is good enough for the lyrics to be heard.

@@MommaTaunT You are in first place on the reacting to this version. Too bad the cat's out of the bag for a reaction to the studio version of this, where Julia Nilon's reaction is in first pace for this version and The Confident Singer is second. Julia wanted to know if the person who suggested that video wanted her to wet her pants."How dare you!" was her indignant response. In any case, may I suggest a google of " Romantic Poets and Jinjer's _Pisces__ Meaning, Duality, and the Human Tragedy" for a bit of background.

The only predictable thing about Jinjer is their unpredictability. They are not an unoriginal symphonic metal band rehashing the same pseudo-classical rock that has been done to death over the last 50 years...

I loved your reaction to one of my favourite bands. I only discovered Jinjer in the last year, but from all of the LIVE footage I've seen of them, I've never actually seen her struggle onstage before, so you must have been pretty unlucky to have picked the only one where she's having technical difficulty. I've been amazed at how good she's performed live in every other video I've seen, and was really surprised when i heard this one. But having said that, I would highly recommend listening to "I Speak Astronomy" and if you like jazz try "Home Back" as they've got a cool little jazz moment in there. The whole band are amazing musicians. Great idea to have a 2nd listen with your son... very clever :)

So pleased to see this one, I love Jinjer having got into them about 3 years ago, they are very good live as well as the studio albums, The best version of Pisces is live in studio which was recorded to show off their then new drummer, another fantastic track is Teacher Teacher live in Australia, Tatiana can sing various clean voices, some neutral like here some very coloured by emotions, then her Growls are something else because her diction is on point, then she can really Belt as well. Metal is way more than noise the quality of most of the musicianship is far higher than a great many other players, Metal is life, I have been listening to it for over 50years and been involved with a few minor players

It's growling or screaming, but grunting was adorable. Also in terms of growl and scream, metal has some real powerhouse women who blow many of the dudes out of the water. Like Alissa Gluz White when she was in the Agonist with their song thank you pain. Or some of the women who pioneered women's metal singing. Archenemy's Angela Gossow. You have Krysta Cameron formerly of Iwrestledabearonce and Empyrean Lights. Melissa Bonny of Ad Inifinitum. You have Amalie Bruun of Myrkur who is extraordinary, she sings black metal and then has a whole album of swedish shepherd songs and the two extremes of her range are breath taking. I adore metal but her album with the shepherd songs is an experience in itself.

I really understand that distorted vocals are not for everybody's ears. But, if you decide to check something else from this band, try *Wallflower.* It's the only one with almost no distorted vocals in it (almost!), and it's also a masterpiece in itself. Anyway, enjoy your metal journey! It's gonna be a rollercoaster even i you just go with the "clean only" bands!

@MommaTaunT you're quite welcome! They have some other songs at Wacken, _Perrenial_ and _Who Is Gonna Be the One_ which are quite good. I haven't seen a live version, but their song _Bad Water_ has none of the harsh vocals. She stays in her clean mode and it's really nice.

The specific term is vocal fry but another accepted term is, growl. I say this because some people can be a bit of an ahole in use of terms and I'd rather help you avoid that. Which is why I gave the term, in hopes to help. I love your reaction. Jinjer is definately not a starter band for gettig into metal but they are very good. I would have suggested a band like Metallica. I say this because if you introduce a heavier band too early, it can put one off and they have a harder time feeling the genre. Meaning getting into it. But...Since you checked them out. I'd say most definately continue exploring them. A lot of their much newwer songs are more melodic less growl. My first reaction to you was The Sound Of Silence by Disturbed. Second was Nightwish Ghost Love Score and now this. I love how open you are when listening and giving your opinions. Thank you. PS. I subscribed.

Hello from Denmark 🇩🇰 There is almost too much great bands out there, and Finland is maybe THE Capitol of metalmusic. 🤗 And the the best part, they are in their own way fantastic poets, as you have experienced with Nightwish 🥰 I have recently fallen in love with Jari Maenpaa's lyrics and compositions. His band is Wintersun and for a start I would love to see how you would react to Death and the healing! This is not the most recommended piece from them, but I have my part of goosebumps, when I hear that 🥰🥰 I'll throw a link to it 🤗

Enjoyed your reaction. Tatiana is a fantastic performer and vocalist. Saw them live for the first time recently, and it was brilliant. Each member of the band are incredibly skilled. Vlad on the drums is actually a concert pianist, as well as being a great guitarist as well. Since you are a jazz singer, I think you might enjoy their song "Wallflower" from the latest album. Lots of jazz influence, and shows Tatiana's more lyrical side. It deals with Tatiana's issues with being an introvert. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoq9o4Jtpsh_nrc

Don't let the growls scare you, Tatiana is a sweet lady. Try a more personal perspective with Tatiana's One Take Vocal Performance of their song Judgement (& Punishment)... kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2bVmJJsaLibp8k I would like to also suggest checking out an all female metal band called Nemophila (from Japan) and their song REVIVE. She has a higher pitched screech/growl and beautiful clean voice and these ladies rock. Oh and it may not look like it but they were freezing in 80 mph winds filming this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ61nomZadpkbtk

Growling (& screaming). :) Yeah, she got frequently issues with her in ears. Either because they're too quiet, at which point she often throws angry gazes towards their sound guy off stage, or because they just plop out constantly. Very obvious not just when she can't hit the tones but also when she presses her in ear further into her ear during the clean parts. It's why the usual recommendation is the live session at Napalm Records, but I personally still like this live performance. Her harsh vocals are indeed inspired by male screamers, mainly Randy Blythe from Lamb of God. If you want to check out some more, then I'll leave my usual recommendations below. Official video suggestions: Teacher, Teacher Vortex I Speak Astronomy Cloud Factory Retrospection Wallflower No Hoard Of Value (official lyric video) Home Back Mediator Sit Stay Roll Over Live suggestions: Perennial live at Wacken Who Is Gonna Be The One live On The Top live in Kiev Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev Judgement & Punishment (one take vocal performance) Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest

There are several good songs with Jinjer, but I recommend you to listen to "Home back" (as the music video when the picture plays a bit with it) But recommend you to check out another girl who is friends with Floor (also did an interview on Floor's own channel) and it is Alissa who is a singer in Arch Enemy and there "Reason to believe" can be a good start but also "the eagle flies alone " and "The world is yours" and they have many more good songs from their new record included but these can be a good start

Tatiana blows away everyone at the first listen. She is incredible. Greets from Germany! I woud have a rock/metal suggestion for you. Actually it's in my opinion, the greatest rock band around these days (after Black Sabbath finally quit). I'm talking about TOOL. If you don't know anything, it's an american rock/metal band from California, founded in the early '90. I would suggest to start with "Schism". Please, stick to the audio only version, because the video will distract you from the music on a first listen. Live versions I would also not suggest that early. First there are not that many good live recordings and second, I think it is a bit to much for a first take on them. Enjoy! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmG1pXWbd5tkgqc
