This started for me about 2 weeks postpartum. I carried my boy around *everywhere* I went every day all day. I started carrying him differently about a week ago but my thumb is still hurting so bad and feeling like it's going to pop out of socket with any use. I hope it won't be permanent! Weird things us women go through. 😅

Why more pregnant and nursing moms get "mommy thumb" is simply due to low estrogen. Estrogen is a natural anti inflammatory and protects the sheaths coating. I researched this due to me having the same problem in menopause. Once my estrogen was replaced (bio identically) within 2 days it was gone.

I had no problems at all until my daughter was around 7 months. She's a year old and it is so tender and painful....I hear this happens in pregnancy so could this be something different? My doc is treating it as this week anti-inflammatory

for the deQuervain can you take the cortison injection if you are breastfeeding?
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy

Hi @TheBraveSpiritz-kc6hv - We haven't found any studies that show the effects of cortisone on breastfeeding moms and babies, so it's safety is not determined and a better studied alternative might be preferred.

Hey, so I’m doing prolotherapy for de querveins and ligamentitis of the whole wrist. I’m gonna ask my dr about hydro dissection as well. Did you use a splint at all, or take time off work? I’m a firefighter, I rest as much as possible. But sometimes I can’t. Can it still heal while using it? Thanks! Tyler
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tyler, We hope you have a very successful treatment series. Splinting is not necessary for most cases that we see here, but it is more of a case by case basis. Prolotherapy is ideal for people with active jobs who cannot just "not use" whatever joint is being treated, so it sounds like you and your doctor agree it's a good fit for your case. It may require that someone alter some nonessential activities while the treatment is still early on or directly following a treatment. That is something to discuss with the provider who is treating you as they'd know more of the details on your case and what they'd suggest for the first few days after treatment, need for a splint in your situation, possibly combining with hydrodissection, etc. All the best in healing!

So you are a prolotherapist and still went for the hydrodissection as your first solution? I'd love to hear more details and success stories as I'm getting desperate, fighting with DQT for about 2/2,5 months now. In the end, what was injected during the prolotheraphy shots which helped? You don't mention that specifically in the video, I'd love to hear. Thank you!
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy
@CaringmedicalProlotherapy 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrzej P, the solution was a traditional dextrose Prolotherapy, as well as the hydrodissection. We use hydrodissection, or what we call Nerve release & regeneration injection therapy (NRRIT) pretty much every day in our clinics- they work very well in cases where there is both nerve compression and joint instability. Some cases are more of a hydrodissection (NRRIT) case right from the start. We use ultrasound and physical exam to help determine what is needed and what condition the nerve is in. We'd be happy to talk with you more about your case and see you in our office. Feel free to reach out to us directly. Wish you all the best in health and recovering from your tenosynovitis.

@@CaringmedicalProlotherapy Oh believe me I'd love too but I think getting to your office would be impossible for me. I live in Europe. I'll be looking into prolotherapy in my area if everything else fials. It's impossible to live with :/ Can't do most of the activities I like.
