Yes I would donate for Mr James to find a safe place, but not for another vehicle if that person already has a vehicle. There are far more pressing needs out there like rescuing strays and funding foster parent needs, and especially during a pandemic where everyone has to take care of their household.

I find stories of peoples lives so interesting like your good friend James someone should go to different towns and do documentaries on people like your friend it would give the public an awareness of these people and their lives and what brought them to the life they lead they aren't just homeless trash digging people they are human beings capable of love and caring and giving like anyone else they just have been down on their luck for one reason or another.
