Well I am on the same side of the Atlantic as you are and in N Am the stuff they are playing on the radio today and passing off as country music is crap but in Ireland, they are playing the old proper country songs and writing new ones too. They at least know quality and are musically inclined. People like Gene Watson and other well-respected US artists tour Ireland regularly and are still well respected there but in the US you seldom hear their old songs on the radio because they are not part of the so-called new country which is just bastardized pop music half the time.
