I totally agree with you about strangers wanting to meet you. Respecting a person's privacy in today's society is important. Years ago I met a gentleman who owned the conference Centre where I had to set up equipment. After a brief conversation he was surprised that I knew about his 1969 band, which he hadn't mentioned to strangers in years. Then he tells me that he has contacts all over the music industry and proofs it via his cell phone. My jaw dropped at glancing at the names of really big stars. Don't worry folks, I never memorized any phone numbers. He autographed my co-workers album. Believe me it was a real thrill however I never went back as I know better not to harass someone's private life. I've met a few other musicians as well.and the same attitude applies. Happy birthday to Floyd. Peace to everyone.

Happy Birthday to Floyd. As a black Comics collector & animation fan , he makes me proud. David Sancious is a genius. Soft Machine 7 is my favorite album by them , especially Snodland & Penny Hitch.

Dude, you're a great guy and wish more people thought the same way as u. I agree, money is fun and need to make it to live. But, money that doesn't feel right and goes against your morals then it not worth it. I dont want to be rich. If I can keep making art and feeding my family and live comfortably then I'm fine with that. I cant take money with me when I die but what I will take with me is my memories. So I try and make good memories to take with me . Treat others with respect and if they dont respect u back , then they are not worth your your time. Cheers bro! I'm glad you stand your ground in a way that doesnt hurt people.

Dave Sancious is definitely a name I've heard before, so I'm intrigued. I want to say thanks for mentioning Cosmic Furnace, because, I'm fairly certain years ago it wasnt on Spotify, and now it is. Looking forward to hearing it again (with newer ears).

I do believe you can choose your destiny if u work hard at it. I've always been great at art but hit rock bottom with addiction problems. Got clean and started to draw again. I drew something everyday for a year straight. It's been a year and a half and I'm doing album covers for punk rock bands I grew up listening to. I have great fans all over the world who support me. I'm freelance and proud .I met a music journalist through art and she interviewed so many bands from motorhead, slayer , Metallica, cod, bad religion , robert plant etc. Anyways, she a going to edit my first graphic novel about my sad but hilarious past dealing with addiction. Shes going to interview me and review it after for me . Shes a sweetheart. Anyways, thanks so much for sharing your views and records. I wish u all the best man

LMAO -- I'll bet you were really happy about the King Crimson re-release, because they kept your picture on the inside cover! I haven't heard the new mix, but I am going to attend to that today. Peace and good health brother.

Hi Dereck, that is one cool cover for for Soft Machine, and I do remember you discussing the sound quality...that’s very encouraging to hear about the vinyl....thanks for all the updates Dereck be safe and cautious - Lisa

I recently listened to Cosmic Furnace, great stuff. Powell is one of my favorite players - Superb solist, but very melodic at the same time. His songwriting in Utopia was fantastic. He does right what Rick Wakeman does wrong - no unnecessary noodling.
@DanYuleo4 жыл бұрын
And as much as I love and of course appreciate Wakeman, you hit it right on the head. The way he builds this imagery of fire in his solo section of "Singring..." and the intensity of a nuclear bomb in "Hiroshima" off Ra come to mind immediately. Just masterful.
@Cpayne304 жыл бұрын
Dan Yuleo - Hiroshima live in Tokyo 1979 might be my very favorite synth solo. Highly recommend that version if you don’t know it! Singring as well, great one. It’s 2112 but funny, I say.

Hi Dereck. I never listened to Nurse the Wound stuff, I remember them doing a song with Stereolab but never took went further. Good news is that I'll be able to play music at the local radio station this week after all the COVID stuff. There are some precautions b/c of Covid (wearing a mask and sanitizing) but I'm not complaining since it's better than nothing. Have a good one :)

Sometimes I feel like everyone has forgotten what the music was telling them in the 60s and 70s, the way they live today is so contrary to what the music was saying in their youth, but they talk about these classic albums, like King Crimson, how great they are (and they are great), but they live a money-centric life, a self-serving life, a life completely contrary to what the music was saying to them. And I'm like, shit, was anyone paying attention? So many of my generation who even consider themselves somewhat liberal are so wrapped up in a materialistic existence, in status, wealth, notoriety, whatever. Yes, confusion is our epitaph.

Nice to hear a heartfelt, gut feeling reaction to a Steven Wilson remix. What an EXTRAORDINARY CV of work he has amassed in that capacity. If Giles Martin wasn't a producer I would imagine that SW would no doubt have been asked to look at that canon too. I have to say though I'm not a KC fan (Crimson, that is....not the Sunshine Band!) and personally, having not been overly taken with his remix of TFF's 'Songs From The Big Chair' I've not looked to hearing much else. I'm wary of these 'revisits'!! Nevertheless it's valuable to hear what you say about this one. I'd love him to remix a couple of latter day Killing Joke albums. Not that Youth or Jaz would ever let him near the tapes!! :)

I find the idea of people virtually self-inviting or strongly suggesting that they want to visit you strange and a little disconcerting. That is assuming way too much.

funny I thought Nurse with wound sounded shit from what I just listened to. That silk flowers record is terrible, sounds like someone pressed the pre programmed beat on a synth then did a bad Ian Curtis impression over the top.
