I got to thinking about salt and light, I'm leaning towards the Lord was talking about the Hebrews being the only ones that would carry the message of God through his history, if He gave the task to another race they would probably mess it up, that's the reason they are the chosen but that's just 2. By the way, the reason I say Hebrews instead of Jews is because I think Jews are from the tribe of Judah which were Hebrew, when put together equals Jew. I guess all the tribes are mixed together now so it doesn't matter but other tribes played a part in giving us the good news also.

Jesus came to set us free from the curse of the Law which condemns all to death/hell. He also came to set us free from slavery to sin. 1 John 3:9 reminds us that those born of God can not sin because the seed of God is in us and we keep ourselves from the evil one. As Christians therefore we should focus on that we are new creations in Christ and how we can now overcome sin by our faith!
