Hi I've pulled the handle really hard on my Mondeo and now it only works from inside and the outside is all floppy. Have I snapped something. Can you help .it was because the door was frozen shut

Hi liam. You could try and remove the mechanism from the door and where you see the metal rod conecting from the handle area to the latch mechanism, if you adjust this it will take up the slack in the handle. I dont know how it gets like that maybe wear over time. If i recall you need to separate the latch with 3 small torx screws and wind the mechanism maybe a couple of turns, trial and error. I have done 3 so far and are all working fine.

Thanks for your help, I did this, adjusting the screw to take up the slack in the handle fixed the issue!

Hi. Is it possible to remove the handle and adjust the rod whilst everything is in situ? Will I be able to do this without removing the door card? Do you mean just slacken the latch where the 3 torx screws are located at the side of the door, then turn the rod? I am trying to sort the handle on my Mondeo. I am able to open the door, however, my wife and kids cannot. Cheers. Thanks

Hi mate thanks for the clip my Mondeo door won't open I've tried another door handle but for some reason you really have to pull on the handle to open the door the handle seems slightly loose. Any ideas mate? Thanks

Liam Bunn mines the same needs 4 quick pulls on the handle to open. Did you fix yours in the end?

Luke Rumsey. one of my comments about adjusting the rod works a treat, only snag is you need to remove the lock mechanism. it's not too hard.

@@iiTzKrypt yeah man, took door handle off, stripped door inner panel off and ended up replacing the lock motor mech, was only £25 on ebay. you can open the door lock mech and use that electric spray cleaner to free it up (it's muck buildup in the motor brushes) but far easier just buying another and replacing it 👍 ironically my mum's Jag did the same, Jag wanted £1500 did both sides for her for £50 :)

Hi D Fastcars. the process is the same all round. The only problem maybe if you unscrew the screw to far it will pop out of its socket. If this happens just screw it back in all the way and try again. 2 turns is all it needs. My video is real time at 1min 10s so it shouldn't take you very long.
