the purpose of the "weird clip and line" to your induction hose i think is that it returns air from the top of your engine (with bits of oil). thats why some people install a catch can, so no oil goes through your intake

New subscriber here, thanks to a mate pointing out your new ST interest. Enjoying the style and content so far! Just wanted to add a note about the Code Reader, did you know you can access a multitude of info from the instrument panel? It's called 'Self Diagnostics Mode' and this is how to access it (it works on my ST220 and should on any Mondeo with an electronic dash) .... 1). Insert key but do not turn it on. 2). Press and hold the Trip Meter Reset Button. 3). Turn ignition until dash lights come on and continue holding the button. 4). Within 10 seconds the display should change to 'test' in the LCD and the needle will do a full sweep. 5). Release the button. With each new press of the button the LCD will cycle through some 17 test modes, including DTC codes and full illumination of the instrument panel. I owned a Mondeo TDCi for 8 years before getting my ST220 last year and never knew about this. You can also enable functions such as 'Anti HiJack' feature, 'Global Opening' of windows, Turn off 'Seat Belt Reminder', 'Two Stage Unlocking' etc. There's a whole host of hidden features. Enjoy the ST pal and I'll continue to enjoy your vid's :)

@CarsExposed6 жыл бұрын
Hi James, can you get live data from the rail pressure with your scan tool ? The range performance code means that the Ecu is expecting a signal/voltage from the rail sensor in relation with the engine speed/load and it doesn’t match ... the tricky part It could be so many things from a bad pump, regulator to just a bad sensor... personally I would measure the signal from the rail sensor with the multimeter first nice and easy and check if does change it values when you accelerate, that would be a good start hence you are not having any trouble starting or stalling... good luck 👍

Fuel pressure codes could be due to it being mapped poorly
@davekelly25676 жыл бұрын
Those two fault codes could be down to a dodgey remap or a cheap tuning box that's already on the car. If it was my car after changing that pipe I'd flush the fluid out anyway, that stuff looks mankey. And one last thing, if your feeling the cold (and I don't blame you) get some of the Mechanix gloves off ebay. They are an absolute god send when working on the tools in winter. I usually wear a pair of those under a pair of power tool gloves. You can still use your fingers and feel them!
@malcolmyoung78666 жыл бұрын
211th...James the ribs on that pipe are only on the outside and are for strengthening/rigidity(When the turbo is sucking in air the pipe doesn't collapse etc)...so there won't be much of a difference in the 'mechanics' of what those pipes do....the replacement being silicone should last longer and looks a bit better...you should maybe look at replacing any other induction pipes or at least checking them over for splits/wear especially around where they rub against jubilee clips etc...if your car was running 'rich'(too much diesel for instance/black smoke out of exhaust) it could be down to such an issue (although not always)...Like the Mondeo and it being a diesel ST all the more so...Keep up the great work..

Mondeo looking good since the re-badging, power steering leak was a nice easy fix, I agree on the hose colour, for me there were only 2 choices, Blue or Black. Re the Scanner, with so many Fords have you tried or considered Forscan? the software is free and the OBDi/USB link cable is under £20, I got my obd/usb lead from Tunnelrat Electronics in the UK, Modified ELM327USB for £16.95.

As the other comments have said, flush the PAS fluid. Yours was very grey and thick. Might save you changing the rack later. Another winning video, keep it up.

Swap the bonnet key mechanism out, I couldn’t get into my focus engine bay all over Christmas. Great video mate! *Got some suggestions for the Mondeo to make it look more classy and healthier:* - First, service it! (new filters and oil!) - Refurbish the Ford Mondeo st24 alloy wheels to bare metal look! - Put on a ZUNSPORT MONDEO MK3 ST STAINLESS FRONT GRILLE SET! - Washing it and Ebay ceramic coating it (+ review of the coating!) - Keep the closed airbox but a bit modified because the original one has some air restriction + KN filter - Put in an android audio unit - Put on a very light new window tint - Put on some chrome numberplates surrounds + chrome window trim
