Blow it like a short reed goose call. That’s what got me running it right.

I think peoples main struggle with a cutdown is they’re looking for the pleasing sound & attenuation of other calls like the Duck Commander double reeds. This is not what its about. This is about the loud intense rasp that ducks like, not humans. This is a different call about making a racket that works on ducks. Throwout the idea pf the hail call tone dropping through tons of notes. This call is more monotone, just enough to make some attenuation.

Yes Sir, that was my struggle forever with it. I started to listen and pay attention more to actual live ducks, and it hit me. Not a single one sounded like the tones I was trying to or even sounded the exact same.

What were those calls that Jim was using? It looked and sounded like a Mondo LA and the Rockin R.

I’m pretty sure he was blowing a D.C. Mondo. I have that call.

I was told to use the cook Cook cook. I hated it because I was hut hut hutting like butch. Hot....same thing. Ok...now that "T" makes spit in the call. The "K" comes from the back ...no spit.

I say hawk tua now. Especially with the bouncing hen lol. No jk. I actually used to grunt a little too much into the call (sounded fine) for the most part until I tried to throw in the bouncing hen. Can't do it with that much vibration change and it kept cutting off. Well once I went with- 1- Completely cut out the grunting habit and went to H or 'Hw" sound. Gradually worked back in a slight G sound starting to sound like different ducks 2- Did that little change and wow. YUGE difference and learned alot.
