Not sure about it will get any higher than 6.23. Even duplantis has a limit, and people think just beccause he is young, he will do like 6.30 within a few years. I have seen how much trouble he have had with 6.23, so i doubt he will just fly over 6.24 like nothing. For he to break world record, he has to be at his very best, and thats very hard.

I remember the times when Sergej Bubka was the absolute pole vault hero, who mastered the 6 meter in every competition. And nobody thought that someone ever would break Bubka's records... (I think 6,14 was his best). And now this young guy Duplantis shows up and writes a completely new story of pole vault... Absolutely amazing!!! (Second place in this competition was 41 cm behind... !!!!)

​@@branlotin: It's impossible to do one-to-one comparisons because the capacity for breaking records (a set amount of times) reduces with every new record. That is, Duplantis is now much, much closer to the probable absolute limit of what the human body can achieve than Bubka was at the equivalent stage of his career, even if equipment improvements have shifted the bottleneck somewhat. A different, at least complementary, way of thinking about it is how far ahead of their contemporaries they were, but then that's dependent on how popular the sport is (and how many people have the opportunity to pursue it). It will always be a subjective measurement, to a large degree, but obviously Duplantis is nowhere near the end of his career, so it would be unfair to compare them right now anyway.

Yeah if he can nail the trajectory and body position, he's on a 6.30 at least. It's pretty amazing how much he's shifted the world record even after Sergei Bubka broke the record 35 times beforehand. Like... for an athlete to build such a crazy world record and then get a guy who raises it even further... It's like Usain Bolt's records being broken significantly for 3 years straight by one guy. He'd be an absolute mutant, an anomaly on the track. Just like Duplantis is here. No one is close.

If so, it will be an unbreakable record for centuries to come. Even his records now will be undefeated for centuries to come. But he is smart. Taking 1 centimeters at a time. I wonder if mondos world under 20 would not be the one which stands longest . Today after 5 years ,if i count right only 6 men ,counting all ages and in both indoors and outdoors,that have vaulted 6.05 meters When Mondo jumped 6,05 in 2018 it was said to be the fifth highest jump ever.When we add Sam Kendrick’s 6.06 and KC Lightfoot 607 plus that Mondo is the man who has jumped the highest himself, that makes his 6.05 in 2018 still the 8 highest jump ever today.
