Laughing through the whole video because I still do all these things!

I still do some of these things although I am a high networth individual and I grew up upper-middle class. I just don’t like waste. It’s a triple whammy to waste things. Like throwing away perfectly good food. I freeze it and have it few days later. This means saving on 3 fronts - 1) what you already paid for, 2) not needing to buy another meal coz you saved the previous one and 3) we’re wrecking our planet by endless new production and consumption. Let’s be mindful about these things. The earth has plenty for all our needs but not enough for all our greed - Mahatma Gandhi

I grew up in a really poor (a.k.a "lower middle class") family. My grandparents grew up in the post WW2 europe, and they had to be frugal and creative to survive, and passed these habits to my parents, who were also poor. I remember the neverending struggle of my parents, and I wanted to break out from this. I was working a lot for long years, studied in university while working, gratuated and got a good job, and now I am doing well financially. I own my house and car, I have investments, but these habits are totally part of me, they are engraved into my personality since i was an infant, and it drives my wife crazy.

My father was a barber and my mother a secretary. I can definitely relate to this. Good video.

I'm 48 now and still do most of this stuff but it's not due to being poor anymore. I still don't have a huge income but at the same time I want for nothing that normal people have. It's because I do most of the stuff featured in this video that I don't worry about bills or food costs and have savings and investments. There is zero sense in wasting food, energy or money when you don't have to and it's something that needs to be taught in schools along with money management.

Why wouldn't anyone do all these things? Do people like to waste?

I'm GenX and we grew up saving, recycling and doing fixing things on our own. And now, our children adapted it.

I’m 75 and grew up poor. Did very well in life and money is not a problem. But I still do most of these. Old habits die hard.

You should turn off the lights whenever you leave a room regardless of income. And we NEED those plastic bags now more than ever as there is a ban on them in certain cities. Im out of all the ones i did save over the years. You got any?

All of these apply to me today. If it's on the plate it must be eaten now or put away for eating later.

I found this video fascinating. And I learned much about myself that didn't recognize. It made me laugh at times because some of the items listed are so me.

All except for feeling "guilty". I'm not doing guilt after decades of dedication, I'm worth it! Also, it's a crime how much food goes bad due to lack of planning. I do feel guilty about that one.

I don't think this is a middle lower class issue but more with one's entitlement. It's more I think how ones were taught day 1. Some gen Y, Z, alpha had parenta who could provide but still know not to waste.
