Let me know your biggest financial mistake below! 🤙🏻
@lotusseries19883 жыл бұрын
Biggest financial mistake would include Getting married (spent so much for the wedding day, then getting a divorce after and paying so much for the proceedings ( incluing the phil court's recognition of foreign divorce) 🤒
@JenniferEstella3 жыл бұрын
@@lotusseries1988 oh man! That’s such a bummer! But you can’t blame yourself, the wedding scene in the Philippines I think is too overrated. When I was young, I also dreamed of a big wedding, it’s quite recently I realized I better put it somewhere else - honeymoon or invest! I hope everything goes well for you!

When i moved to another country I went over budget constantly and I quickly realized it was because i was still pricing everything in my head in another currency!
@JenniferEstella3 жыл бұрын
I was also the same at the start! I kept on converting the prices but eventually, spending on the new currency just grew on me.

Just found your channel & good video. I cut up all my credit cards years ago except 1 that gives points for EVERY purchase. I use it for everything like paying utility bills & property taxes, donations, etc and I earn points every time I use it. I then pay it off every month so I never pay interest. At the end of the year I use all the points for christmas gifts. It's a nice extra money hack so I suggest taking advantage of a card that has a reward system, use it and pay it off every month.

I think the main advantage of working overseas, is to take the money and invest it in your home country where it will buy you more. Example: I was working away and saved money, I waited for the property crash in Ireland and bought property in Dublin. You need to work your compitive advantage. Buying stock you are on the same level as everyone else, but if you have knowlage of your home country you can take advantage of that and find opportunities to leverage your money.
@JenniferEstella3 жыл бұрын
You're so lucky you got your property before the crash in 2008. I know someone who's timing was just the opposite of perfect - got a property just before 2007 ended. 😣 I was investing my money in the Philippine market initially but the time difference makes it impossible for me to trade there. I am asleep when the market is open! 😅 So, now I am investing in the US and EU market.
@annmcgowan84173 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferEstella I did some calculation on the Dublin property. I took some property prices from 1990 and added 6% per year componded and this gave me the real price of the house, so I knew that the property market was in a bubble. So I waited 5 years for the crash to happen. Every year my family said you should have bought last year and every year I said I am waiting for the crash. After the crash I paid 30% of the price. The house has not yet returned to the peak price, it might not happen for a few years. When I say invest in your home country, I mean land or property.
@sarahann5302 жыл бұрын
@@annmcgowan8417 So you took advantage of the misery of others losing their home in the crash . Well done you !
@annmcgowan84172 жыл бұрын
@@sarahann530 I bought a house with a very short lease, for cash as the banks would not lend on short lease. Because I researched and knew the area, I found out I could buy the freehold. Because of the property crash this brought this house into my cash price range. It had been empty for some time, so I offered 50k less that it was advertised. I usually buy empty houses in bad condition, so I can add value to the property, so even when prices go down I am still ok.
@sarahann5302 жыл бұрын
@@annmcgowan8417 So you are a property developer that buys up houses for cash . . You'll be making some money now in rent !
