You still have time to change the title. Change it to Malabar coast or Kerala and Tulu Nadu or South India for political correctness dumbos
@nakulan420Ай бұрын
When you do you a "it's not only found in this area" schtick the second place you'll mention (in this case Udupi and coastal Karnataka) should be like far away from the primary place indicating that it is fascinating that two different places far away from each other still came up with a similar functional aspect. That's the purpose of that schtick. Not when both places you mention are literally next to each it becomes redundant. It's like saying "the delicious aloo Paratha is not only found in Punjab but also in two districts of Haryana"🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

Just imagining the "Golden mean" by the government appointed engineer and the locals. That is, if the engineer listens, learns, and implements the knowledge acquired through generations by locals and the locals learn something new as well. Mutual dialogue between both parties could be a "winner" here. - Love and best wishes from Australia.

@y.u.so.Ай бұрын
@@strikeclub4535 it's totally different language, older than Kannada (but some dispute). Although, since dominance of Kannada, therefore you can find a lot of borrowed words from Kannada. Tulu speakers are divided by both Kannada and Malayalam speakers by respective linguistic states. Tulu speakers are culturally more closer to Northern Kerala, you'll find similar type of demigod worship and castes. If you want to learn a better Kannada, grammatically, polite and sound one, then you should go to Mangalore. The ones in Bangalore speak Kannada similar to how African Americans speak English. Still they wanna be cocky about it. But Mangaloreans are more polite and respectful.

@@strikeclub4535 the region known as Dakshin Kannada is simply spectacular. With clean beaches and mountain and rivers. Just check Maravanthe beach. It's ocean on one side then NH 66 and river on other side. More than adequate monsoon, lots of greenery. Focus on Education with great Education and higher education facility and simultaneously culturally rich with so many festivals and temples. Awsome food, dosas from Udupi...costal fishing and lots more....

It's fairly common all over Kerala. It's used also to direct water to paddy fields. The more efficient way of doing it is making a concrete structure and then using steel gates for regulating flow during season and off season. Don't need to dismantle and set up every year

Its also used to filter out salt in the water before opening to paddy field

What the locals say is correct. The government should consult those working in the profession for ages and utilise their wisdom. It is not as though the community is against any sort of development. They are asking for development that is sustainable and effective. It is an eye opener that groundwater is being over-utilised and surface water is being under-utilised.
@ianweniger6620Ай бұрын
Long live traditional Kerala farm engineering! Technocrats are trained to judge local populations as ignorant failures. "Why else would these people would need our expertise and iPhones?" If the come-from-away experts really want to suggest a useful addition to kattas... What if they wanted to add beavers to the process? Wait, don't scroll! Think it through: beavers... -start building dams at the sound of running water. -work 24/7 til finished -work undeterred by human observation. -fell trees only when none are already felled -use trees and traditional materials for building -can be relocated to lodge in wetland preserve when katta is removed The only potential drawbacks are diet and predators. Over to you!
