Hey I'd like to update this after a couple weeks! The Ovoo (uWu) is actually way more powerful than I originally realized, you can build TWO (2) units for sometimes less than the price of 1. I now recommend adding an Ovoo into the build before the stable and building on it. I will update the build order guide after a patch or two once things have settled but I wanted tot make sure people have updated information :) Adding on archers and then RAMS is usually a strong follow up to the early horseman play, currently RAMS are incredible. RAM your friends today for me!

nah, every civ has really strong things, the ovoo is really strong, but not moreso than the others. I think the mangudai however are insane and might be overpowered

@@Legapur9 only if your opponent leans heavy into infantry and calvary since you can kite but bad micro gets punished since they are kinda squishy and archers are cheap enough to outnumber them and win strait up fights. They are like mutalisk/phoenix hybrids lol

I’ve been treating it like chronoboost, it allows for double unit production (even vils) for about 110% the resource for two units plus the stone. Vils and siege I have found Cost a lot of the stone resource to double produce.

@@SizeMcWave Yeah have been using stone to double my infantry early game, nobody is able to come close to my military power and when I get to the last age, the stone production with 9 traders and the generator without stone outcrops is insane. Basically at this point it's game over LMAO

You can only build 1 uwu/owo and then as you get to better players, you sort of need to use it (build buildings around it etc.). That puts a cap ultimately on what stone you can get. Though it sort of generates a free resource that is usually 'best used' to get a small discount and 2x instead of 1x units. It is hard to master and maybe underpowered too, but it's possible to win with. I think Mongols is underpowered but if you fail to do damage or to keep on pace then you will completely lose, so I was winning but it is clear the other civs with a better player are just easier, and you can just build any cheap wooden tower and has range and high damage to defeats early raids way too well; some of these fools played 100games already (like in 3 days). Microing into towers and getting snipes on attacking seems to do way more damage to the point it's not viable to try raiding if they build defensively. Then you boom and fight with a civ not really meant for it but you might win if they are unprepared or outplayed, they still get the general upgrades and can win. But it has potential to have some special things like AoM's norse where it might be better, but, it just takes extra effort and is worse otherwise. To have to spend time in a close game to unpack buildings and move to a new owo is a bit stupid, they can't produce in the time they move too. And not really sure that unpacking/repacking is useful overall but obviously in a late game time it might end up powerful once figured out. Last the super unique unit Mangudai is good but if you have to run when you have to fight or defend a rush or big attack on buildings then it's not very viable unless you have super micro and no lag.

thanks for the guide really helped me. The tip to transition to infantery is nice. Tried to spam to mangudai but they just lose to archers which a lot of people use anyway. Now I just use more horsemen in the beginning and transition to men at arms using the t3 tent, the khan and outpusts to buff my army and applying preasure to my oppoonent.

I think getting your uvuu faster is much better since you can either spend the saved up stone on double military production for a faster and cheaper rush or a trade boom once you age up. Also the watchtowers are essential for Mongols after age 3 (or 2 if you get deer stones) as they give a massive speed buff to all the units making engagements more microable and economy better. Love that you're getting into aoe4, hope you continue playing my main civ (mongols).

I think delaying the ovoo really isn't the play. Especially on a map like you had where you can have your TC in range of wood and gold, you don't need a ger that early (granted you're a bit more reliant on sheep finding) and you can use the extra wood to get the ovoo. Which let's you then get free horsemans or improved upgrade. You could have got 200 food extra by not paying horsemans. I will do some testings of my own, but even if the gold is not in range of the woodline for a good TC spot, i think splitting the initial villager between sheep and wood will allow to build the ger at gold without downtime, and i don't think the resulting delay in feudal time outmach the benefit of having 5 minutes of stone production.

Whats worked for me is burning to feudal age and pumping out Mongol horse archers using the Ovoo's 2x build bonus, then going and specifically micro attacking all the enemies villagers. Completely destroys their eco early on. Just gotta make sure to get in before they get completed walls surrounding them up.

yo winter opening straight into ovoo and splitting onto wood lets you hit with 4 horseman AT the 4 minute mark its kinda cheese but you can harass landmark creation

My AI stomp is rush feudal age and get 4-6 mangodai and just make circles around the camp taking out villagers. 2 Archery ranges and 1 Stable for horsemen vs enemy archers. If they're close to their base, go for siege ASAP.

After trying a couple of time i don't feel this build. France and England often rush feudal and their landmarks also provide their strong units. By this time my horsemen are too late to effectivly disrupt my opp. I prefer the more aggressive build with sending 2 villiger for an aggressive outpost. Then i can for example deny the french gold so that they can't even begin to produce royal knights.

Good. Mongols to seem to be the pinnacle of asymetry in this game, and this is as good a start as any for a build order. I learned something more about the Ovoo as well. Had a bit of a senior moment watching you build the Ger at the town center (why?). Then I realized you want to start on food->wood before gold. Otherwise I would just build the Ger on gold and leave the builder there, mining.

Interesting opening, I was wondering why you wouldn't use the Ovoo in conjuction with the town center? It ofcourse depends on where your initial stone lands. But I always try to take advantage of the early 2x villagers the Ovoo provides to the Town Center. It also buffs sheep production and it works well with a stable to produce double units.

This gameplay belong to early released AOE4, today we (mongol mains) usually build ovoo at the start of the game and 5 on wood at first too, 5 food, then move your 2 wood villager to gather food after build a stable on ovoo, last thing is gold need to be 3 at least. Mongols should be late for the early game bcs we need our army as soon as possible and begin to raid enemy.

With an earlier rush you can do that, yes. i often burn a house or a mining post with a light cav rush hitting around 3'30 tp 4' that allows a slightly smoother feudal transition but isn't always possible.

Voice sounded very familiar and the references to Terran made me think, "oh this guy must have played some sc2" only to look at your ign and gooo ohhhhhh it's fking winter LUL. Good to see you evolving when th rts. Sc2 is dead and aoe is bound to take over. It's so much more friendlier for most people under rank diamond in sc2. Way slower on pace but similar skill cap as sc2 in terms of strat options.

he is using heavy cav, you're using light cav. You'll loose every time in that scenario. That build doesn't counter french cav rush by any means, against french you want to hit way earlier or build spears/archer or mangudais/horsemans.

@@westy1637 I did. The game ran fine the graphics just weren't nice enough for me. It's a litle deceptive. I had over the recommended minimum but couldn't get the game to run good on medium settings.

Review: I tried this strat and this non-Ovoo horseman raid is rather unstable, it is a little too finicky for follow up (archer/spearman). 4 horsemen single recruit is rather too expensive, you cant replenish your numbers fast enough as you did not gather stone early on. If the enemy anticipate early by countering you with spearmen, youre done for, as it is a bit late for you to catch up with archers.

Age of Empires 4 needs some serious balancing. I now know of a unit that just overrides all counters. Just build a ton of them and that's it you won. Even if you hard counter this unit it doesn't matter. It somehow can nearly 1v1 it's "counter" units. I won't say what it is because it's bullshit and needs fixed.
