you seem to be very satisfied with that keyboard/organ (perhaps its a sk-1) what can you say about that Hammond nice playin thanks
@SjoerdHammond7 жыл бұрын
thanks, yeah it's a sk-1 73. I originally needed a keyboard that had a top notch Hammond sound. I also wanted to use the oppertunity to get a keyboard that had some great other sounds like rhodes, clav and piano. In the price range I had available there were a couple possibilities, like a Nord. But the sk-1 keyboard had a little more emphesis on the Hammond organ, which was my main reason for buying a keyboard. Also the sk-1 has waterfall Hammond keys build for sliding. So I just had to get this one. It has some flaws sound wise, but nothing I can't fix. The leslie simulator is just horrible, absolutely terrible. So I use a Neo Ventilator Mini for leslie simulation. For other crazy Hammond sounds like in this video I use Guitar Rig 5 with FL studio which pretty much gives you infinite sound possibilities. For me it was playability (feel on the hands), emphasis on Hammond, Great collection of vintage sounds used in Blues/Rock/Funk and tweakability that made me love this keyboard. I would like to get a XK-5 some day but the price they ask is just retarded. Besides, I have a real A100, who pretty much is the king of them all.

I'll reiterate what everybody else seems to be saying, what an amazing solo. I just wish there were more lessons on syncopated and slap organ playing. This is totally amazing, absolutely killer! By the way, how would you compare your Hammond to a Crumar Mojo (if you've played one)?
@SjoerdHammond4 жыл бұрын
Haha well..., I have a very unorthodox but I believe valuable opinion on that. All Hammonds or Crumars or Nord etc sound terrible without a real Leslie. I played a Crumar once and I thought it sounded absolutely terrible. But that's probably because I played it through the internal Leslie simulator. Now Hammond keyboards for that matter sound even worse. The Leslie simulator is absolute shit. The Leslie sim has a low-fi 8-bit screech when you set it on fast, which I cannot ever understand why they did that. Now plug the Hammond in a dual Leslie setup with two tube 251 and 145 leslies and it is the best sound you've ever heard. I'd say nearly on par with my A100, almost indistinguishable. Leslie sim pedals like the neo ventilator are better than the built-in Leslie sims but are still pretty bad. And you'd still need a pair of high-quality speakers. You can buy a real Leslie for the same money. Bottom line, each brand Hammond focused keyboard sounds great with a Leslie. Even an XK5 will sound bad without a Leslie, however, a bit better than all the others though, which is why it's ridiculously expensive.

Dearest Funkateers, I have had a funky-wah problem that I have had for a long time. Perhaps someone here knows how to sort it out. Here is a link to the Commodores Machine Gun @ At roughly positions 1.37, 1.39, 1.41 and 1.43 we hear what I take to be a wah guitar. But it does not sound much like most wahs. It has no top end. I thought that this must be because the guitarist hardly opened the pedal/cutoff, but when I try that on my wah, and my wah plugins, I don't get that sound. Does anyone know how to make that sound?, because it is seriously FUNKY!
@WestAviationSim7 жыл бұрын
Hey! Nice jam :) I have one question for you. How do you integrate guitar pedals (the wah for instance) to the organ. Isn't the signals from organ/keyboards and guitars different? Thank you, Jimmy
