It is worth to point out that if Nakarkos is considered as a dragon that mimics the appearance of a squid (cephalopod) is not an absurd idea to think about. Afterall, in the real world, we do have animal from different clade that is mimicking the appearance of others. Such as the now extinct family of ancient sea reptile the Ichtyosaur, whose body resembles to that of modern day dolphins and Marlin fish.
However, it is worth to point out that if Nakarkos is considered as a dragon that mimics the appearance of a squid (cephalopod) is not an absurd idea either. @@meremsolomon4744 I also know about convergent evolution.Examples can also be seen in the world of Monster Hunter, such as Gobul and Anglerfish.

@@itamae913 Glad you can understand the idea. Personally, I'd like to think the world of monster hunter as the world whose lifeform is predominantly occupied by reptiles / dragons. And as time flows and evolution occur, there are gonna be some point where animals are mimicking the appearance of others due to being advantageous in order for their species to keep thriving. Such as Kirin whose appearance is similar to a Fanged Beast but ultimately, it's just a dragon that mimics the appearance of mammal, Ceadeus whose body and behaviour mimics that of a whale but is not considered as a true Cetacea, Nakarkos that mimics squid or cuttlefish, and then finally we have Gobul that resembles angler fish but it's considered as a Leviathan or Sea Dragon. Just like how our world have extinct species of reptiles which happens to resemble a mammal because they're on the process of becoming true mammals, or the example of Ichtyosaur clade which I've said before.

I believe Nakarkos / Osutogaroa is a dragon which resembles that of a squid (cephalopod). Not only it has elder dragon blood and can produce copious amount of dragon element, but Nakarkos' skin is oddly scaly like a common sea turtle, the dragon also has teeth behind its beak unlike true cephalopods. The possible explanation for this mimicry is none other than Convergent Evolution, such as how certain species of spider is mimicking the appearance of an ant due to evolution.
