@maxkahn71893 жыл бұрын
@@MonicaXGuan I would say the biggest problem for me is the sound proofing (or lack thereof). We hear so much noise from the flat above us that we basically have to live according to their schedule. Also, the windows aren’t sealed properly so all the heat or AC escapes depending on the season. And we’ve had broken lights, water leaks, damaged/faulty appliances, etc. so overall it hasn’t been great🙃The water/heat shortages + overpriced bills don’t help either haha

@EmmaVB823 жыл бұрын
Definitely this! I use their compact cutlery organiser, and I can’t imagine taking up an entire drawer with a traditional organiser now! For utensils I actually use these drawer organisers from Addis (bought on Amazon but they sell them in a few places) - sturdy white plastic outside, and a grey non-slip base inside as well as non-slip feet. They come as a 3 pack in different sizes, so you can mix and match them depending on where they fit and where they make sense for you. I’ve got 2 sets and I use them in different drawers/cupboards, and the largest one in the pack is perfect for long cooking utensils, so I have two of those side by side in my cutlery drawer :)

I’m guessing you live in City Island because I recognise that beautiful view. Back in 2017 my family got offered a 4 bedroom flat in Harmony House which is that blue building in City Island. I really wanted my family to accept the offer but sadly car parking space was a big issue plus there’s hardly any nearby grocery stores etc which was why we rejected it. But honestly I would’ve lived there if it wasn’t for the issues and never get bored of that view 😍

@EmmaVB823 жыл бұрын
I don’t want to just put the building name out there if she doesn’t want to share it herself… but I was curious where it was too, and managed to “triangulate” the location using Google Maps in just a couple of mins :) If you want to do the same, my tip would be, open up Google Maps to Canning Town, look for the O2 dome as a reference point on the map, then look at where the dome appears in her balcony view… then use the “Spirited Away” train line as a guide, and you should get a rough idea of where all those points converge :) Then just click on some of the buildings - you might get photos of what the inside looks like right there, or you can Google for the building name and you’ll get tons of hits from property listing sites. Also I’m super jealous of this place! I live in north east London on the 4th/top floor of a building, and while I do have some amazing views and mine’s a 1 bedroom instead of a studio, it’s only 411 sq ft, and from the listings I found it seems like this is more like 530 sq ft, and it feels much more spacious in a lot of ways! I own mine though, and to buy a studio like this it seems like it would cost about 1.7x what I paid for my flat, which I definitely couldn’t afford! So I guess this is a fair trade off 😅 Good luck with your flathunting!
@dmitrykarpenko22713 жыл бұрын
@@EmmaVB82 Thanks, that was very helpful! I'll try to search myself too:) Yeh, that's actually a good point - "flat price" / "rent price" may be a good criteria. BTW, is there some flat prices database? - I only saw "blind auctions" that deliberately hide the price...

Tudor, it's London E14. To any Londoner familiar with the history of this area, Monica's location is easily identifiable, but I'd better not be more precise in order to preserve Monica's privacy. Incidentally, for anyone thinking of moving to London for the first time, this area is very, very different to most of London and is the result of the redevelopment of all the old derelict docks, followed by all the development related to the London Olympic Games. Most London flats are converted Victorian houses and are usually small and awkwardly shaped. For the wealthier who can afford to live in the central areas, the flats are mostly converted Georgian houses, where the rooms are usually larger and better proportioned.

@@cosydream9750 It all depends on what you want and what you can afford. Elsewhere on KZbin a young woman was suggesting Camden and Shoreditch as her favourites. They are very lively and full of things to do, but personally I wouldn't touch them with the proverbial 10 foot bargepole! For me the nicest areas to live in London are to the north or to the west. Going north once you are past Camden Town, the two branches of the Northern Line tube go through some pleasant suburbs. And to the west the District Line tube from Earl's Court all the way to Ealing, Richmond or Wimbledon is what I would suggest. My personal favourite of all the places I've lived is Chiswick. But be warned that even in the poorest suburbs London is very expensive, try and share with friends if possible to cut your living costs. Good luck!
