I'm very sensitive to specific tones of music for no reason myself so I think I get it. Plus, or a lot of music from the Warsaw Pact in the 80's, it can be easy to project what we knew was coming onto their vaguely melancholic tunes, and create a more depressing atmosphere than was intended.
