Getting a GPS location push notification once daily (when not in alarm mode) OR getting a GPS location push notification every five minutes for no more than half an hour in total (when in alarm mode) undoubtedly does not qualify this device as a tracking device at all. I appreciate the battery saving concern and all, but I would prefer having an "on request" GPS location notification (when not in alarm mode) OR a live location link once the alarm is set off without 30 mins time restrictions (when in alarm mode) in order to find my motorbike.

The device has two CR123 batteries and the fob uses a 3032, all three need changing every year and more often if you keep accidently keep activating it.

We’re still way behind the times with this. That thing is embarrassingly big. A thief would rip that right off and chuck it in the woods. Motorcycle companies should build tracking capability right into the frame. Though the truth is insurance companies actually want your bike to get stolen. Everything is a scam.

@sabbottart Curious what you mean....why would insurance want you to lose a covered bike? Then they pay out for the stolen bike? I've had two bikes stolen which is why I bought this (and a bike with a chipped key so they'd stop hotwiring my rides), and both times insurance paid me more than the bike was worth and I was able to upgrade. No fault, so my rates were still reasonable. I don't see how it would benefit insurance companies to pay more claims. The only way I could see it as a positive for insurance is on a macro scale, they can say there are more thefts in your area so your rates are higher?

Truth is both motorcycle manufacturers and insurance want your bike stolen why? Insurance will still collect premiums and do jack💩 and motorcycle manufacturers will continue to make them without tracker gps so they can keep selling them

Yo, this device seems great.. but it runs off of 3g technology and all 3g networks are being shutdown at the beginning of next year. So it'll be a 200$ paperweight in 6-9 months.

well yes and no. 3g is being sunset for some networks, but verizon has halted shutdown plans indefinitely and if the 2g “shutdown” is any indication it’ll be at least another 5-10 years before 3g is actually cut. both verizon and t-mobile still have active 2g service.

Sorry, when saying your phone's sim card doesn't matter that was in regards to the Monimoto physically. If you want to buy a tracking device that sends alerts, you would need a phone that can receive alerts - regardless of which unit you go with on the market. If you can't do that, a Disc Lock or chain might just be the best bet. You'd need a receiving device for any system that sends alerts.

This is absolute trash. Why? Because of the way this company is marketing, every thief is going to know about it. They know what it looks like and knows where it is. On top of that it's extremely easy to remove from the bike. Cable ties? Under the seat? You're having a laugh. And so are the thieves when they toss it in the nearest bush and make off with your motorcycle. Waste of money.

I heard that those are mostly useless for tracking stolen goods these days. The feature that alerts stalking victims of neardy air tags also alerts thieves. I believe this was the case back in early 2023. Not certain though.

$200 for this specialized deviced, or $30 for an Apple AirTag. Convince me that an AirTag wouldn't do the same if not better in an urban environment where Apple devices are everywhere.

The problem is that if the thief has an iphone. The airtag will give it an notification that there is an airtag with him. It’s not a tracking device so apple has to do this for privacy reasons. The second problem is that if the thief does not have an iphone and he goes to a location where there are no iphones. You won’t get any location updates. It is good and cheap for some uses but the monimoto tracker is far more better.

AirTag's are too chatty when it involves a theft. My wife and I live together. We took the dogs out to a park away from home and on the way back she got a notice on her iPhone of an Airtag nearby. The Airtag wasn't in lost mode. This would not have been good if the situation was a theft. So, my T7 has an Airtag in it now but once the Monimoto 7 is available I'll be buying one of those instead. Leave the Airtags for keys, luggage, and other things that might be misplaced (or lost) rather than stolen. Now, I do plan on keeping tags in the panniers and tank bag just because I have a bunch of them available.

I have AirTags on my company vehicles and trailers and i can tell you by experience that the gps is always off. And yes my workers found out the same day that I was tracking them. And the ones that have drivers with androids also are hard to tracked
