I'm surprised that no one has corrected me and said that, "Actually, its 5.6569" not 5.7". Furthermore this calculation only works on a 2 dimensional plane and speakers have both convex and concave 3 dimensional features which add surface area!". To which I would say, "Convex and Concave features? Reminds me of your mom"
@miagi1337
@miagi1337 3 жыл бұрын
@@janmiller7008 Actually it is the 2 dimensional projection area that matters so this comparison is fine. The speaker has one direction of movement, so the projection on a plane 90° to the velocity vector is what matters most. The concave shape of the Diaphragm surely has some secondary effects when pushing air but those are smaller. However at least from a pure mechanical standpoint it helps stiffen up the Diaphragm or for a minimum needed stiffness, it makes the Diaphragm lighter.

@@miagi1337 The only thing that matters is how much air is displaced. A speaker is an air pump.
@miagi1337
@miagi1337 3 жыл бұрын
@@Assimilator702 No it is not. A pump or a fan transport air, a speakers creates longitudinal pressure waves. A wave can be transported without the air beaning transported. Air molecules just need to move back and forth a bit for a longitudinal wave but apart from that may be stationary.

Hello, I use Monitor Audio Studio, system details Cyrus two & psx, Cyrus Quattro, Thorens Mini, Thorens MM002 and Sonos Connect. Since the day it was first produced, I listened to Studio with many amps. Sun Audio (2A3), Atoll, B.M.C. Audio, Marantz, Musical Fidelity Nu Vista 600, Roksan etc. So the lower, middle, and upper segment can often match any amp, but the Studio's character is one of the most variable speakers. It differs from other Monitor Audio series in character. Although it is difficult to explain, I will try to explain a little. The most prominent character traits: 1- Extremely dynamic structure, namely: the difference between the lowest sound and the highest sound is quite high. 2- Level of detail: 48hz. (albeit like a little value) 50hz and below is a good value for bookshelf, and if you bring the back of the wall close to the wall, you will get a very good lower frequency response. The upper frequency is 60khz. (Human ear hearing limit is 20khz.) But this is just the feeling of a situation related to hearing is another part of the work (35khz., 60khz. and 100khz. In Monitor Audio models, the differences between them can be felt under the same conditions in the Silver, Gold and Platinum series.) 3- Distortion (The cabinet design that the Monitor Audio brand does best in general is rigid. For example, resonance damping accessories such as the Agora Acoustics Iso cube do not make a difference. (Iso cube in Chario Constellation Delphinus seriously corrects the lower frequency response.) 4- It is not very difficult to locate locations such as Triangle layout. Good results are obtained when used in 35m2 or even 40m2 rooms. It sure sounds great. Some of the speakers have the capabilities of stage performance (3D), Loudspeakers invisible (as if the sound is coming from the room walls, not coming from the speaker or driver). Examples can be increased. Studio's more precisely, Monitor Audio's general character sound feature is not like the example I have given. It has the ability to produce more distortion-free, dynamic and detailed sound. If the characteristics of the Studio are suitable for the listener and if he likes this character and presentation, take some time and get a very enjoyable performance with a good amphitheater (I recommend English amps). Thanks.

The two screw bolts at the back of the speaker are long rods that the hold the drive units tight from front to back of the cabinet. Here in the the UK 🇬🇧, there are bronze, silver, gold, and platinum range, which all the modern new higher model range monitor audio's have these tweeters. The most expensive and largest monitor audio loudspeaker is the monitor audio platinum PL 500 ii loudspeaker, which have centre midrange configuration just like this studio model, but in the platinum PL 500 ii the midrange drivers and tweeter are sealed in their own compartments, and above and below each midrange driver they are flanked by 2 bass drivers above and below the midrange units. The monitor audio PLATINUM PL500 ii is on you tube playing classical music. £15000 uk pounds is the new price in the UK 🇬🇧, for their biggest top of the range platinum model.

I suggest a lower speaker stand so there more in phase to your sitting position, plus room acoustics but I know you know that already, the speakers placed on there side are more in phase the speakers are all the same level now. The vertical off access measurements might not be that good but that's from manufacturer, maybe crossover upgrade might be what those could use, Gr research can fix those

I think the two possible issues are separating the woofers and using a ribbon tweeter. Ribbons are pretty directional, and separating the woofers like that invites potential phasing issues. It might help with the response pattern if done properly, but form the sound demo, even with the mics on-axis they were pretty much kinda meh... And since they're ribbons the off-axis could end up being a mess depending on how far off you are and what the design is like. They also have differing horizontal and vertical dispersion patterns, so that's probably why they are going dead Wall-E style for the review.

@VioletGiraffe

The speaker orientation in the TM configuration does matter, even if the twitter is close to the midwoofer. It's because when they are close, there is an interference pattern between the two sound sources around their crossover frequency. This intereference cause the vertical response to lean one way, towards the midwoofer, IIRC. And if you put it sideways, now your horizontal response is asymmetric and you at least need to orient it the right way (or toe-in towards your MLP). This effect is primary reason behind the MTM design (which makes the vertical response lobe to straighten out and become parallel to the ground - in the vertical array configuration - but has its own problems).

You could probably do these more justice by not toeing them in so aggressively and pushing them back nearer to the wall. I've owned a few sets of MA speakers and they don't need much toe-in, toeing in just exaggerates the tweeter which you really don't need to do with an AMT.

When horizontal, both woofers are lower to the floor rather than 1 woofer, thus the bass response is better (something dual 4” speakers need). But as you said, off-axis performance isn’t as good.

The 60kHz response isn't because you can hear it, its because being able to go that high is incredibly difficult to do well, in other words it tells you something about the quality and speed/precision of the drivers used... Theoretically anyway. You can sort of apply the headroom logic.

true monitor loudspeakers are not supposed to be impressive. They are supposed to be clean and clear and flat in the midrange and highs , with tight clean clear lower frequencies . source and amplification makes a massive difference to all passive dynamic monitors. Not all source components and amplification suit all monitors. You have to use source and amplification that suits the monitors to your ears .

You don’t reference audio straight on. The speakers are supposed to be aiming just past your head. Read a book about audio engineering if you’re confused about the placement. Or just continue yelling at yourself in third person with your self made cartoon name. Yes, I’m sure the latter is much better after reconsideration.

The ONLY reason they have more fidelity and sound bigger and more full to your ears when you’re listening to them from across the room with them horizontally is because they are positioned in a way that they are passing through your field of hearing much more correctly and wrapping around the outside of your head than when you are placing them vertically and both drivers are in the same horizontal position in relation to your ears on the SIDES of your head, NOT the front of your face making your ears focus on the the sounds that are only in front of you. It’s like you’re creating blinders for your ears and you are missing the majority of sound that is spreading outwards as it travels further and further away from the source. You are trying to aim them at your eyes and hearing more high frequencies that travel in a straight line forward and less mods and lows that travel in every direction in a circle as it leaves the source. I’m pretty sure your eyes aren’t nearly as accurate as your ears are at listening to sounds that are bouncing around the room and reflecting from all directions before they are able to reach the ‘RFZ’ that they were designed for which is near field referencing to accurately mix audio.

Never did like iether of the Monitor Audio pairs of standmounts i had, called bookshelf speakers 20 /25'ish years ago. Mine were prob best on a bookshelf ...somebody elses. They were ineficient (with complicated energy sapping high capacitance x/overs to incŕeasingly suck-away higher frequencies & give illusion of better bass ...which didnt work well with thier cheap small magnet bass drivers. And no inductor in sight to stear more power into thd bass ...the cheapskates!!! (a decent inductor akways cost more than all the other x/over components combined) but that was 20 - 25 years ago when i associated M.A.'s as "fine for background music while doing the washing-up or something even more exciting. I still hsve 1 pair doing surround duty pointing slightly downwards from up in the room's rear corners. Fine for that frequency-limited 5.1 Dolby rear (always mono) sound. (properly, its 4.1 as i much prefere Phantom center setting with my gear, tho occadionally use the tv's mono-set sound as a pseudo-centre ch. to enhance speach when needed on some soundtracks)
